Congrats. It is almost like adding a power box isn't it? Makes you wonder where all that power was going before......definitely wasn't going to the rear wheels.

Ok update time, don't use ATF+4 with this upgrade, converter will shudder going in and out of lockup. Changed over to ATF+3 and all is well.

Mark,

Can you give us an idea on cost? I can add that to my (go into further) debt list....along with KORE suspension, Bigger tires, and Donaldson muffler.

dtt install

ok guys i did the install and i must say this set up rocks . awsome firm shifts not neck braking but firm and positive. no sliding into gear like most of us are use to. lockup is great and holds . test drove with mark and when you stand on it it goes. no lockup slipping just power to the ground . i will be doing my own truck with the exact same mods as money allows you know us techs dont have time to work on our own trucks till they break. i highly recomend dtt products they have great customer service on my end and build an awsome products. and like mark said dont use the atf +4 use atf +3 .

Why ATF+3 vs +4. The 48RE requires +4

Mine has had a pretty harsh converter unlock whenever I drive with the OD off and I come to a stop. I wonder if changing the fluid would help that?.?. It's not like we have any trans warranty left once we add these parts anyways...

Yes I have to say best move to make for me was a DTT upgrade
Stock tranny would have never made it with all the bombing.
I myself did mine I have done many in my swamp buggy.
price range was $2500.00 and some change for all parts.
$4000.00 built w/ parts by the great guys at DTT.
Core charges too but you get it back.
Awesome people to work with!

Most aftermarket performance trannies use +3 instead of +4. It is "firmer" feeling and provides more power transfer. It is fine in the 48RE stock even...a much better feeling transmission than with +4.

All I can say about the ATF+4 is that Mr. Kondolay said due to it's added friction modifiers it can easily cause the lockup clutch to shudder. We changed it to ATF+3 last night and it was instantly all better. I put close to 250 miles on it since last night so all is good. Parts were 1796.00 shipped to my desk at work with a $200 dollar refundable core charge.
