yeah, I'm really looking forward to the trans upgrade (vb,tc, input, flex, etc.) and also turning up the Smarty. I bought that Van Aakan c5 a couple of days ago (it's in the mail) and want to try that out ASAP too!
Looks like Nathan Wright built your twin set? Everybody here and at TDR says he's very good with twins (er, sequential turbos). What did your set cost, if you can tell me, and what kind of waste gate(s) does it have? I'm pretty sure I'm going to get twins at some point (maybe after my financial recovery!) What attributes does the stock/s400 set have, a lotta low end or midrange (really don't know much about twins, but I guess they are set up for a best RPM range?)

Dave told me that the % only applies at a certain power level, so if you turn up the power, there will be more slip; thus, the % changes. All I know is his TC works a LOT better than stock. I need more brakes to hold it while stopped and it idles along at a slightly higher speed.

When you say slight glitch, do you mean flaring (the RPM jumps about 100-200 before it goes into 3rd)? Mine flares under light throttle, but works great at WOT.

It will downshift pretty aggressively around that speed if you're not still accelerating, but that doesn't really bother me at all. I kind of like how it helps to keep the RPM's up.
Yeah, Dave didn't go to the heaviest spring on mine. He did say he was more worried about third's clutch band locking before second's clutch band released if he got the timing too close.

As far as flare goes, the DTT shift enhanser that GaveUpOnTV posted should do the trick. If it locks the TC in race mode, that would be the way I would go. Although, Dave said if/when he finds the fix for it, he'll swap out our VBs if we want it.

hoping someone finds a fix for this as i've heard it has happened on a few other trucks with different vendors.
If you are talking about the bump-bump shifts, call Dave. Tell him you have bump-bump shifts and he will send you a new set of accum springs and piston. He did for me and I will install as soon as I have 200.00 to spend on fluids and filter.

OK, for anyone having shifting issues with built trannies... 2-3 cutloose. Please get the DTT Shift Enhanser. It complete cures the problem. It holds the shifts about 200 rpm longer, and ELIMINATES the cutloose.
I definately recommend it.

Tomorow is the day. I can't wait. I'm so tired of watching my engine hit 3200 rpm, & stay there 'till the T/C locks up. Then it drops about 800rpm. I lose boost, & the truck bogs a bit. I may get a II PS 62/13, & stack Smarty. What level should I start the Smarty with? My XZT still has the timing in it. I also need to make sure the throttle is controlable down low for the slippery months.

Lucky Dog...... I've got 29,000 more miles to go before I redo my tranny. I am waiting until the 70,000 mile powertrain warranty goes bye-bye. It will take me 3 to 4 more years to put that mileage on for sure.

I definately recommend it.
Will the Shift Enhanser lock the TC in race mode?

Just an FYI, I have the DTT Shift Enhanser and i still have the 2-3 indecicevness (sp?).....getting a stiffer spring put in next week to hopefully fix the problem.....it only occurs at real light throttle (traffic)...and at around 30mph it'll downshift back to 2nd gear....

jgiachino, thats what mine is doing. it doesn't like to go into 3rd unless you apply a little more throttle. I can live with that, but like you said, sometimes if you make it into 3rd and still have light throttle, it will downshift back into 2nd.

its not a major issue, but an annoyance. I was hoping the DTT box would fix it but sounds like it won't. Let me (us) know if you're able to get it resolved PLEASE.

The aggressive downshift to 2nd doesn't bother me at all. I actually prefer it that way because it helps keep the RPM's up during city driving. Makes the truck much more responsive. It's much better to have it that way than the alternative (2-3 "cut loose" problem).

The shift enhanser doesn't lock it in race mode, it just holds the shifts longer

Yah, the enhanser worked great for the 2-3 cutloose, and for me, has all but got rid of my 2-3 gear hunting.... BUT.... I also switched out my VB to one that was drilled out to .120 vs the one Dave sent with the tranny which was .095... so, the new VB might have done the trick with the gear hunting.
Don't really know since I did both at the same time.

Yep. It's in! All I can say for now is WOW! The 1st. thing I noticed when I put it in gear is the definite, firm engagement. No more shifting from Rev. to Drive while rolling backwards. The second thing is it doesn't really feel that different just driving around town slow. It shifts smooth, & at about the same times it did before. But I can feel the shifts better now. It lingers in 2nd more @ light throttle in town, but just below 25+/- mph. Above that it's about the same. I've only got to floor it once since I got it in, & that's where the difference is realy noticed. Firm, shifts @ top end, the truck jumps when it shifts, & I get about 700-800 +/- rpm drop when it shifts. Only about 300-400 rpm drop @ T/C lock up. It flew up to 65-70 mph in 3rd before it locked the T/C, & it pulled hard all the way up.I backed out @ about 75 mph, & it shifted into 4th, & locked up again. Before I knew it I was doing allmost 90, & it was still accelerating easy. It takes more throttle to get the rpm up, but the truck starts to move allmost immediatly when you touch the throttle now. I'll be able to do some more testing next week. Goerend ROCKS!!!
