Talked to a man at a local muffler shop and he recommended using a 4" glasspack muffler. Anyone ever use one,if so what did you think about it? Thanks for your help.

 

In my ever so humble opinion, no muffler ever invented sounds as good as a straight through glass pack. I've had them on many different vehicles including my Harley. I even had one on my '84 Isuzu P'up diesel and wife's VW Rabbit diesel. They simply sound good. Not too loud if they're long enough. No raspy tin can muffler sound and drone is minimal compared to a steel baffled straight through. Even on the Harley. Just a tight, throaty deep sound. Be sure the one the muffer man is suggesting doesn't narrow down and restrict too much flow. I looked in a 4" ID glasspack once that was probably 3" ID inside the louvers. Just my ever so humble opinion...

 

That is what I have on mine. 4'' i.d all the way.No restrictions at all. Sounds low with bass, not to loud but I like it.

 

get a Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet... no louvers.

Probably not if you don't tow. If you do tow, without a muffler the drone will make your head explode like Gallager's watermellon.

Kinda like din only deaper. Drone is a constant irritating noise of lower frequency. A loud hummmmmmmmm. If you have any amount of "head in a bucket" troubles from allergies, drone is intolerable. But some aren't bothered at all by it.

I found something last night when driving at 60 mph.. I had my front windows up.. rolled down my back windows approx 3/10's and got this very loud, very notable, hmmmmm, or vibrartion with a hmmmmmm - yes it did feel like my head was pulsating!!!!

is that the drone??? or is that the vib. some people are talking about??

 

The sound is never loud enough to where it isn't enjoyable riding on the cab.
It doesn't "drone", it sounds like a real pickup, when pulling a trailer.

 

what you expeirenced here is what is called the helicopter effect, if you would of cracked one of your front windows down a tad bit that annoying sound would of gone away.
