Getting frustrated with my truck...
The truck I have is listed in my signature .. it's driving me nuts that I can't even get on it very much because even with the power on 5 and torque on 3 I'm hitting 1350 degrees or 40lbs of boost so fast that I can't even make it through a gear without it defueling. I'm trying to build a new house/building so I'm pinching pennies but I need to fix this because I think the TST is useless to me since I can't turn it up. I had a torque dog on my 99 2500 and it pulled hard through every gear with RV injectors, intake and exhaust. nothing else. I think it might have beaten this truck since I can't stay in the throttle on my '03.
What's the deal? They should have a disclaimer or something that you need more than just a tranny to use the higher power settings. I can't even mess with other diesels on the road because I can't pull hard long enough to even give someone a race. I got smoke by a powerstroke this morning. Sad thing is I know the guy and his truck is NOT that fast. He pulled up beside me and honked, I smiled at him and punched it and I pulled away so fast until it defueled and then he passed me, I dropped back into temp range and almost caught up and it defueled again for hitting 1350. He knows his truck shouldn't be faster than mine but I guess he couldn't resists calling me on my cell to rub it in. I tried to be pleasant but am so ticked off at my truck right now.

Their are some good priced turbos in the classifieds!!! The TST is known for big power and without the right set up its not going to perform the way you want. The good news is after reading your sig youve got alot of good stuff, my vote is for more air. Let the boost fly, lower egts and stomp that furd.

When you say more air, you are just referring to a bigger turbo right? There are so many turbo's out there that I don't really know anything about and I don't want it to be too big but don't want it to be too small either. I don't know what the housing numbers mean so I can't figure out what I should be getting. I like the idea of compound turbos but that's out of my price range right now .. I just dropped $6k on the motor for our 98 Camaro so I'm a little broke for the truck right now.
I was wondering about that .. does it really drop the temps down significantly? It is definitely a more affordable option for me right now. How often does it need to be filled. A friend of mine has one on his 689hp Supercharged '01 TransAm but doesn't have it working yet. He said that's going to push him over 700 when he's got it working.

Oh yes!! Here is an actual example: on my truck with the Bully Dog on Performance and the TST on 1X2 with the foot though the floor forever, the temps are about 1,050 max. Boost was about 40 lbs. with this amount of fuel. Ambient temp was about 80 deg. this day. This is from a stop or a roll. I would also strongly suggest a downloader as your main fuel and use the TST to dial it in and for boost fooling.

I like that. How often do you have to fill your bottle and how big is the bottle for the water/meth mix? Do you get it mixed or mix it yourself?

I really wanted to hold off and go twins but then the car sucked up a lot of money after I blew out the bottom end and put a brand new top end on it. If this will band aid me for about 6 months that will be awesome. Then I can still add twins but use the truck in the mean time.

I agree that you need a turbo to cool things down. I do believe the TST documentation does have a number of warnings about what levels are advisable with stock parts.
You seem to be running pretty high levels with stock parts. Even with my mods using only the TST/EZ I don't go over 4/2 and EZ on 1 for normal daily driving. And with the Smarty loaded I usually have TST on 3/0.

All the advisements I read were about the tranny and fuel pump and what levels to run up to if you didn't have either. I've got an HTS built tranny and he said it would handle everything the TST could throw at it. I also did the fuel system as it suggested to be able to hit the higher levels. I didn't see anything about needing a bigger turbo to run it. Kind of *edited before admin* about it.

I think your modifications are excellent; hardly stock. I think RamWheels was referring to the turbo. This is now your weak link as you have eliminated the fuel supply and tranny very well. I personally never much liked the TST as a stand alone product. I use it for boost fooling and to add power here and there. Very good product though.
I suggest you try a downloader right away even with the stock turbo. I suppose the Samrty is best for the '03?? Run it with about 75-95 addtl. HP and the TST on 0x0 and see how you like this and what your temps are. I think you will be pleased and have plenty of room to grow.

If the TST is on 0x0 is it even doing anything? I don't think I fully understand the stacking or maybe what a downloader does versus a module. As I understand it, a downloader changes the actual program and a module multiplies the signals from the program. So if I had the stock program and a module it multiplies the stock signal but if I put in a downloader then I'm already sending out a higher signal so it would multiply something even higher and so I'd get the same results with a downloader and the tst lower as I would with no downloader and the tst higher? I'm not sure if I just made sense writing that down but it made sense in my head. LOL.

The downloader can actually change the personality of the truck and allow it to do much more but as though it were stock as the program is native. Any product added to this will have to compliment as the box will not know the stock program from a modified one. You basically have a higher beginning point that is seamless and without wires, etc.
The TST will still do boost fooling on 0x0 as well as defuel.
Sounds really good .. I think from seeing everyone runs that the Smarty and the TST are the best combo? Is this accurate? Or should I go with something a little less crazy since I don't plan on going crazy with power, I just don't want to get spanked again by any of my friends in the Powerstroke group.
