Get Access To Light Switch Wires?

Anyone know how to get ACCESS to the light switch (****) wires behind the panel? I need to wire up my guages and genos sent me instructions for 03 to 05 model year and the dash is different than on the 06. All my guages are in except for connecting for lighting and i would like to tie into the dimmer switch. have been told it is the brown/orange wire. can anyone confirm and do U have pics on how to get acces to rear of dimmer switch. Thanks

Not sure how to get into the 06 pannel but you may try looking at the little light above/in the cig lighter.. I believe it is hooked into the dimmer system... might be easier acess.

My panel where the headlight switch is just popped out. I removed the side panel off of the dash where the door closes and the lower panel just above the parking brake then reached in from behind the headlight switch panel and popped it out once I could see how the fasteners worked. At that point I tapped into the dimmer wire which I just used a test light on but I think brown with orange trace sounds correct. My truck is a 04.5 though.

I pulled mine apart when I installed the factory fogs. You have to loosen the panel directly above the gauges first. It just has clips. Grasp the front and pull to the rear of the truck. Then loosen the panel under the steering column. Grasp at the top and pull toward the rear of the truck. This panel also has three screws at the top holding it in place. Then pull the bezel surrounding the stereo loose, and finally the bezel surrounding the guages. I didn't completely remove any of them. I just loosened everything enough to get behind the headlight switch to remove it. By the way, the switch is held in with 3 screws.

If all you need to do is tap into the wires, it may be easier to reach the plug at the back of the switch from under the dash. It can be done but it takes a good reach.
