On mine I cut a little bit (the cup smoothie side) around the latch to make it latch easier.

I didnt even mess with the latch on mine. I just used velcro and it works great.

I trimmed a little bit off around the latch area with my dremel and it works great now.

What a PITA install... 4 washers and I snapped 80% of the do dads the hold the plastic on the lid. Shift to 6th and it smacks the cup holder. No real big deal.

I cut the crap out of my fingers when the latch got stuck closed (the gravity safety slipped) some sharp edges too. OUCH!

I did not screw it on as flipping up the compartment for a 3rd is horrid unless you take it off.

Excellent cup holders but could have a different profile to allow more room for shifts into 4th and 6th.

"Break all edges" should be added to the production notes IMHO to prevent sharp edges. Cold wet hands cut easy. It works but not as well as I thought. I still use it so that sums up my opinion.

^^^ Sounds crude, but that's what I've done. Now after about a year, it shuts like normal...guess it just got used to it!

Well, my shifter was hitting in 4th and 6th as well. Then I installed the subwoofer hotbox enclosure in place of the center seat, and I couldn't even get it into the bottom row of gears!

So, I got out the torch, welder, and some extra 5/8" round stock, and made-her fit!

It took a few iterations before I got the shift pattern and throw just where I liked it, but I'm happy now...good bass, place to put drinks, and no more busted fingers!

Sounds like its a major pita on 6 speeds.

I think i'll be ok with the 4 factory cup holders.

Great honest writeup, but there's no way im gonna make a custom bent shifter just to fit the geno's cup holder.

It holds those cups so much better than the factory junk. I like mine even with the install issues....
My shifter never hits it unless I'm jamming those gears driving like a maniac. That never happens though....
