GDP kit leaking

The adapter that goes in place of the stock lift pump on the filter canister. Can't tell if it's leaking where at the inlet to the canister or from the push-lok connector that goes into the bottom of the adapter (I doubt that it's there because it's threaded in almost all the way). Has anybody else had this problem? I'll have to email Rich on Monday and ask him.

didja double check the o-ring on adapter, where it fits into the canister?

the o-ring on my old lift pump came out with the lift pump, you would have to put a new o ring on your adapter

hth?

You might want to put a clamp on the hose that goes over the barb fitting, its just a $.25 clamp and it might stop the leak.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately the o-ring is in place and is in good condition. Also, I can tell that it's coming from above the hose. Frustrating. Can't tighten it any more. Also leaking from the bottom of the canister. Again, unable to tighten these connections anymore.

Did you wrap teflon tape on the threads? I had a leak at the new filter head. I added teflon tape and problem solved.

OK GUYS

I just got off the phone with richard, he said to make sure that you used pipe sealer on the threads like it says to in the instructions! If you have done this and it still leaks let me know.

I know I have a 2nd gen. but I put my GDP kit on today and I seem to have a slow drip at the -an tee for the return line. I removed and re-installed the -an fittings at the tee and also made sure they were clean, but still leaks. It is just a small drip every 5 min. even when it is running. I will drive it tomorrow to see if it gets worse or seals itself.

There was no mention in the instructions to use thread sealant. I thought that was a with -an fittings

The fittings in the GDP kits are not AN fittings, but have the same angle as an AN fitting. If you are getting a small drip from the fitting take it apart, clean it and use very little thread sealer.

Yes, only pipe threads seal on the tapered threads. Flare fittings seal on the
FLARE.

It is likely these fittings are just not tight enough. I like to use two wrenches,
one on the flare nut and one on the fitting you are connecting it to. Angle
both of these wrenchs so that they are next to each other and positioned
so that when you squeeze them together with ONE hand you will be tightening the nut. This will give pure torque and you can get them very
tight with just the one hand.

Mines been leaking too. I've got tape and everything is tight. I guess I need to uninstall and use sealant?

Use good pipe dope on all of the threads...make sure it is diesel resistant.

Don't get the pipe dope on any of the flares/metal to metal sealing surfaces...just the threads. I have never had any leaks.

Sorry for the delay in replies. I was at a relatives place for the holiday and believe it or not they didn't have internet access. LOL!

Just to clarify a couple of points. The -AN (or JIC) fittings do not use or require any kind of sealant. They just need to be clean upon assembly and properly tightened. The fittings in the aluminum adapter however do require some type of sealant due to the fact that they are pipe threads. If your bottom PuskLok fitting is almost all the way in then you may have caused a small crack in the aluminum adapter. Take a close look at it and if it is cracked just give me a call.
