Gauge reading question

Looking at getting a set of gauges for my '03. Probably another dumb question but I gotta ask! Don't know if it tells you in the instructions when you get the gauges but on EGT gauge, what is normal and what should concern me? Same as Boost and trans temp, what should they be? I just put a Van Aaken Smart box on my truck and it said to make sure you at least have an EGT gauge. So, I'm trying to find out what is normal and when/if it gets above that range, what do you do, shut if off?? Mostly use it for towing camper, and a utility trailer not trying to race it or get crazy.

Thanks for your help, sorry if this is elementary!

IMO you should worry if your EGT's get at or above 1400*, Tranny temp, well as the temp goes up you degrade the life of the transmission fluid, the higher the temp the faster the trans fluid degrades. Again IMO I think that you should start to worry if that trans temp gets above 200*. As far as boost goes I don't think your Van Aken box will give you any worries. I have had mine 40-45 psi several times and no issues, I think at 50+ psi of boost you need to start thinking about studding the head. If you think things are getting too hot you can always just back off the go pedal till things cool down a bit. Hope this helps.
