Gauge Pods

Hey All,

I just picked up a 2005 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 and I have a question about Gauges and Gauge Pods. I like the post pods but I don't want to lose the grab bar. I am looking for opinions of the dash or overhead gauge pods. In addition to the stock gauges, which gauges are a must have?

Thanks!

Best pod in my opinion, is the "over the rear view mirror" pod. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep it from slipping on the glass, and warping the plastic pod in the summer heat. Geno's sent me the A-Post pod, without the grab, but I don't use the grab anyway. I have a 4wd, a Westin nerf bar, and I just touch the steering wheel as I guide my FA up into the seat.

As for gauges, Exhaust Temp, Boost, and either Transmission Temp (if you have an Automatic) or Fuel Pressure (if you have a manual). No rules; just my opinion.
Back to morning brew. . .

I also have the mirror pod, but mine is the 4 gauge. I am in the install process, so I don't have pictures yet. My gauges include fuel psi, mechanical oil psi, trans temp/ rear end temp dual gauge, and an EGT/boost psi dual gauge. All gauges, except oil psi, are Westech and were purchased from Genos.

P.S.
If you look at my pictures, you will see these gauges mounted in the pillar pod, of my 01.

Here is how mine are mounted and keep the grab handle. I still have room for one more.

Thanks for the responses! I was leaning towards the pod above the mirror. Thanks for the info on the gauges as well!

Are there any gauge size clock available?

When I first saw that pic on the computer my thought was "wish I could get the xmas lights out of it"

Oh well

I mounted my gauges over the mirror and works great. I was told to use RTV silicone (black), it sure worked for me. I used super glue in a few areas to keep the wires hidden too. You mount the pod first then insert the gauges, I used "pin stripe" tape to keep make gauges snug.

I just installed these. So far I have left the micky mouse mount loose until I am 100% sure I want to keep it there. I wanted a clean dash, but these block the bottom of the instrument cluster if the steering wheel is up, but not down. I pull the wheel down for long hauls anyway.

What year is your truck?

Cbrahs wired mine (2006) and tapped into the dimmer wire. You may want to PM him of nobody else responds. I saw him do it and want to say it is an orange wire behind the fuse panel on the driver side but I could easily be wrong on the color.
