Gauge Mount Help
Gauge Mount Help
I'm thinking of moving up in the programming world so I'll be ditching my current set up and will need to install gauges.
I know I'll be going with EGT, boost and rail pressure gauges to start. I'd like to have them all mounted together. I don't want to lose the A-pillar handle as I use it to get in the truck.
I saw a thread where some one used an aluminum gauge mount that could be mounted anywhere. The thread even had a website for the manufacturer. I've been using the search function on here and Google and can't find it now. Has any one seen it or know what I'm talking about? It doesn't have gauge pods, it's like a regular gauge mount made from aluminum, maybe billet, that can be mounted to any flat surface. I'd like to use it to mount to the inside of the factory A-pillar garnish.
Thanks for the help.

Is this what your asking about? http://www.lazarsmith.com/Gauges.html
you can take one of these and mount it right above the transfer case shifter

I thought the same, but didnt like anything else, so got the a pilliar...no regrets, use the steering wheel as a handle...have now done so on 2 trucks and will do again.

Since you've got a Laramie and heated seats you can't put them in the dash, I think the A-pillar is the only other good spot esp for 3 gauges. The steering wheel is a good handle to get in.

For whatever reasons I can't see these images. I'll have to try again later.
Thanks a ton for the help all!
Here's what you can try, put a gauge on your dash in the same area and sit in your seat and look at your gauge. I like my gauge set up very much, I have both steer. colm. and dash pods. After I got used to where the needles where supposed to be while driving, all I have to do is very breifly glance at 'em all.
They are basically right in the line of sight, without being obstructive. I didn't want to have them on the A-pillar because it already is a blindspot, and I didn't want to add to it.
Turn the gauges so that the needle is pointing straight up when in the normal range. Easier to process on a quick peripherial glance. Most race cars are set up like this.
I'm still contemplating and right now it's down to the Lazar Smith pod mount and the dash mount that Shagginwagon used.
Gauges don't change the profile of the A-pillar hardly at all and it puts them right up close, very easy to see/read. I think the A-pillar is the best as well as easiest place to mount gauges of any, bar none.
