Gauge crazy or just being safe?

So I need to get gauges, I have this idea of using three of the dual egt gauges from westach to monitor all six cylinders. This is the only way that I see to catch a over fueling injector before it melts a piston. The only problem that I see in doing this is those gauges do not have a warning light or a buzzer to warn you of an over temp. I am not opposed to running six isspro ev2 gauges to get the warning lights, but I would like to have them side by side not scattered all over the dash. I do plan on pulling the manifold to drill and tap it.

Should I give up on running six and just run the one gauge?

Am I being crazy or just safe?

No that's pretty crazy, but all of us that mod perfectly capable trucks from the factory are. I don't think you will get each cylinders true temp by tapping 6 probes in your manifold, if anything you might create more turbulence and maybe even a small restriction, IDK.
If you want to monitor all 6, machine it and get in cylinder temps but that's gonna be expensive.

I feel like if it stops me from melting a piston it would be worth it. I am personally not all that worried about the max output of my truck, I use it as a DD.

I do hear a lot about guys loosing engines to injector problems, it seems to me that if 600 bucks can save a 6k dollar engine its worth it. Injectors do seem like a weak point on these trucks. I think I would have more trust in it if I had not installed reman injectors, but I could not afford new ones at the time.

I really don't think it's going to work with 6 probes in the manifold, I haven't tried it but I think you will still only get somewhat of an average. I also don't think anyone has any concrete evidence on how long it takes a hung injector to burn a hole in a piston, but I'm betting its pretty quick and you may not notice it in time.
I think the best thing to do is run a 2/3 micron fuel filter from GDP or Vulcan and let it eat.

Well, I got my fuel filter system about a week after I installed my injectors, so I should be okay on filtration. I worry about a toasted engine all the time. I have even driven my truck for months turned back to stock. I know the vast majority of engines are still doing fine with all kinds of aftermarket junk on them and they don't blow up. But then you hear about trucks that melted an engine for no reason at all. I am not sure there is a way to prevent it.

I figure I will do the fleece dash top pod and a lift pump pressure, egt, boost and an oil pressure. All isspro ev2.

If you worry that much about a toasted engine, sell the truck. No more worries.

Not a bad idea, buy a small block for 200 bucks rebuild it for 1k run it for 200k then rebuild it again and still be under the cost of just a rebuildable cummins.
