Garrett Stage 1-2 & 3 Turbos

Has anyone tried one of these set ups?
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...004.5-2006.htm

I like that the center section is water cooled. But dont know if the bang for the buck is there and the is no info on what size the exhaust housing is that I can find.

One member here, Olywrench, has tried the stage 3 to mixed results... spools awesome, but he had some surge. The stage three is tied to a single A/R exhaust housing... but if this is what you want to do, go through Tom at Turbo resource and he has his own proprietary EH's that fixes the Garrett flaws on them.

They seem nice, but aren't proven on the forums as of YET. I looked at them, but moved along and went with what I have in my signature. Couldn't be happier!

Ya go figure had not heard of them till you mentioned it and I only live about 10 mins away. I'm looking forward to getting mine installed and will report back when I get it done, I agree with rip not much info on the forum's on these turbo's but until some of us try it out we will never know. Wish me luck...

Truth is there is an awful lot of info on these turbos, just not here on the diesel forums... gassers and industrial have been using them for a long time. They are very much race track proven for flogging durability. They just are not for everyone as they are expensive. There are a lot of fine turbos from quality companies here to choose from.

Keep tryin' they have been great to deal with so far. As far as price goes I think the Garrett has come down quite a bit from before, by buying it local cost was comparable to an ss series.

Ive been lookin at these turbo's for awile now, and like ya said theres really no info on any diesel forums yet about how there really working day in and day out etc...

Ive got a couple of questions about the Stage 3. Im looking for a 100% durable/reliable turbo, I want to put it on and forget about it for the most part. My future mods dont get too crazy since im trying to make my truck pretty much a jack of all trades if ya will .

Future Mods Include:

Flux 1-2's (somewhere in there maybe some 1.8's?)
Smarty obv!
Helix 2 Cam (waitin for the new steel one)
Sportsmans Springs
Full Billet Trans
Stage 2 CP3 Maybe?
Either a Raptor 150 or Fuel Boss/Mitusa
TST / MP8

Thats all I can think of for now, Im trying to overbuild it as much as possible because this is and will be my DD, The only thing im still truly lost on is the fuel pump I want it to be dead nuts 100%, Im plannin on beatin the **** out of my truck and I want it to stand the test of time.

PS. Sorry for the thread Hijack

I have had the stage 3 as soulzoo said, perfectly stated"mixed results"I have since gotten a 62/12 and low and behold surges like crazy. So i have other issues and maybe cant blame the garrett, that said i removed it last weekend and is going in the classified section today at some point.I think if you want to build your power around a reliable, quick spooling turbo the garrett is a good one
