Fuel Rail Pressure Reading

My new fuel rail pressure gauge sometimes reads 0 and sometimes reads 5 at idle. What should it read? I wonder if I have a bad gauge. I have it plugged directly into the map sensor before the MP-8. Most of the time it drops to 0 anytime I let off the throttle.

How did you plug a fuel rail pressure sensor into a map sensor. And if you are reading 5 on an idling engine, then it is wayyyyyy off

Well, I said map sensor but I meant the fuel rail sensor. And it reads anywhere between 0 and 6k psi at idle. You say that 5k is way off, what should it be?

You have a lot more mods than I, but for my rail pressure its about 6.6K - 7.1K at idle, Around 18K-20K accelerating, and around 24.5K at WOT.

Brand and item number??

If you're using the Performax guage, a quick chat with Isspro would be the best course of action - those are like mini-computers on a 17-node intra-net

oh, see I thought you were saying 5psi. Thats about right for idle. usually around 6k or so. But if you say it fluctuates between 0psi and 5000psi, then your gauge must be off. They will not run on anything much below 3000psi.

Thanks guys. I'll give Isspro a call. Maybe it does not read that low. If I bump the throttle it jumps to 6k or higher.
