I sounds like you got the kit that came from the second gen dodges. It mounts on passenger frame rail on those trucks.
I transfered mine from my 2000 dodge to my 06 and kept the long lines rolled up and mounted the filter to the front passenger fender mount behind the fender liner.here is the pic of mine.

You might try to call them and get instructions for your truck. They seemed like good people when I've talked to them.

thanks guys. they want an arm and a leg for the bracket and the lines. 248 to be exact! on the frame it goes. it will be easier to change when i have to, but will be a messy job. i dont care though.

Personally I like mine on the frame. Much easier to change for me. I usually have to use a stepladder to work on anything under the hood and so put on the frame it is within easy reach and dosen't make any mess under the hood.

I like mine behind the fender liner, since I pull the fender liner to get to the oil filter any way. With it mounted on the body mount up there it won't leak all over the cp3 when I change the filter. It is also out of the way and won't get damaged.

What does the oil look like when you guys change it? Every common rail i've seen has been black.

Every truck that has a 3rd injection event will keep the oil black. It is the size of the particles that the by-pass filters remove. My buddy put one on his 7.3L PS, and it does make the oil look like new on his vehicle...

I have FS 2500s for my engine oil and trans fluid; The tranny set-up came with an aluminum mounting bracket, so make sure they send you a steel one so it can be welded onto the frame. It's a lot easier than hogging those 5/8" holes in the frame

Should work fine...oil will look black be still cleaner than just running the stock filter alone.

Go to the website and when you call ask for Chris Williams, He is the R&D guru there and has came up with about 10 different mounting options for the 3rd gen trucks, or send me a PM and I may be able to get you one direct as I know the guy who owns the fabrication shop that makes them for FS2500.
