Found a vid of that diesel BOV

racing super charged cars for years, always had BOV's. Back in the day though we just called them surge valves before all the ricers stuff got popular. im sure it would be hard to fab one up for cheap. all it is is a check valve with a vaccum port. when the bov senses vac in hte motor it opens the valve to bleed off any excess boost to avoid bending a throttle body butteryfly and pushing the impeller into the turbo or supercharger housing. dont know why its so expensive from banks though as its pretty simple
It's expensive for these diesels because there is no vacuum in the manifold after you let off to open it. There has to be electronics to see when you let off, what boost pressure is then it will let it open. It is a bit more complex than with a gas engine.
I was pretty sure there were no electronics, or vacuum lines on the ones for diesels; and that they were just set for a certain PSI to "pop off" at. Maybe Im wrong, but thats what I thought?
