I'm a newbie on this site and to CTD. I too, come from the International 7.3 and am not sure I made the right decision. I have some mods on my truck, pretty much set it up like my FORD as far as lift wheels & tires. Chip is a whole nother thing. When you do decide to box or chip it (however you wnat to call it) be sure you get a chip that works on fuel presure, timing and duration. Especially the fuel presure because of the common rail. Edge does not work fuel presure. They only work timing & duration. Preditor from DR. Performance does all three. The quadzilla's also work all 3 plus the boost fool. I believe this is a good chip for the dodge. Allot of guys on this site like the Smarty. I have tested both the Edge with all the cool features & perameters and the Preditor. The Preditor out performs the Edge hands down in fuel economy. Don't believe everything you read. Test it out on your own. Good Luck Welcome aboard

Talking

I think that the Edge w/Attitude is the best bang for your buck. All guages, shift on the fly power adjustments, turbo timer, alarms.
If they had it when i started BOMBING my tuck i would have it now. I just have the Comp and love it.
We are all happy you came over from the Dark side.
WELCOME TO THE DTR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps fill in your sig and location so when you have a problem we know where you are and someone might be close to you to come over and help...

Well I thank you for all the replies thus far. I have read tons already on the boxes/programmers. I am totally lost now! Kinda leaning towards the quadzilla tow box since it is priced well but not sure hwat gauges to pair with it weither digital or old style? Could you still use and attitude? Or how are the guadzilla digital gauge products? I like the really small think it is XZT?? Thoughts?

Im waiting to get my delete then see how loud it is before I decide whether Im taking the cat off (which Im sure I will). How can any programmer not void your warranty? Anything that adds more power than the truck was designed to have can potentially cause warranty problems. Are you saying that the Smarty is supposedly undetectable by the dealer?

What is the issue with having the fuel affected as well as the timing and the third item? Any other thoughts? Which "chip" or tuner do you all think?

Do NOT add fuel pressure to the rail this is where the problems come from! Timming and duration are what you want not added rail pressure. This is different from adding more fuel...
more fuel =
more pressure =

Pressure will damage the injectors.
Again everything 'can' void the warranty the thing is the Smarty is the only downloader that is not detectable. (so they say, I have not personally tried it out at a dealer)
The edge is a balanced product that does a lot right and very little wrong though it wont make the most power.
To me the commander is the best gauges becuase of what it will do besides that. BUT many like good old fashioned gauges.

But a Commander and a Smarty would be a nice combo but it isnt adjustable on the fly like the Edge is. Anything over 100hp will need more fuel.
look at Glacier Diesel for there fuel pumps to help you out there.

I also came from the 7.3 and will never look back it was simpler to mod but would never reach what the mighty 5.9 will.

Keep asking questions and you will keep getting opinions, not answers, answers will come from you own experience. This seems to be true here on this forum anyway.

Look to those who have tried several things and are NOT sponsored.

MOST and this is just from reading on here will say go with a really good air filter or just put a hole in the bottom of your stock one that will be good till 400hp. Otherwise AFE stage 2 or AEM is a new popular one work NOT K&N. This was all true with the 7.3 as well

Just do a muffler delete or put a big one like donaldson or nelson in there.

WOW was this a long post. I have said my peace!

Thanks for the insight. So what are the opinions on the quadzilla tow box with that small XZT monito for $550 versus the juice with attitude? Which is the better choice for mileage and safe operation?

Welcome!! you already made your best upgrade-- you turned your Ford into a Dodge!!! Banks has the power pda set up just for towing. It's the blue colored box not the red one. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome. I can't say anything bad about my old 7.3 except for the fact i can't get a new one. I am very pleased with the dodge thusfar, just getting frustrated trying to learn all the ins and outs of what works on a dodge versus knowing what worked on fords. Just hoping the help continues from the crew here in getting the little tips and tricks hammered out and completed. Keep it coming!

Skynyrd,
So you know what I am feeling. Can you give me insight as to what direction they pointed you in for gauges, intakes, exhaust, and a box along with what you might have done different?

i went for electronic autometer gauges (egt, trans, and boost guage) but make sure you get a 0-60 PSI not a 0-30 PSI on mistake i made. i have to say they look great but i was able to mount mine in the center under my heater controls but to what i'm told the dash setup of the 06 has been changed a good amount. i have also thought about adding a fuel rail pressure gauge
intakes i would stay away from the oil filters like k&n with the amount of air that the CTD pulls it has been known to suck the oil right out of the filter. i went with the AFE stage 2 with the proguard 7 filter it is a oil filter but is not known to let the oil be sucked into the tube and filters out just about all the dirt and i have to say if you pull the silencer ring with the AFE it will make the turbo sing to you.
as to exhaust i'm looking into a silver line stainless dual exhaust that deletes the cat. i have been told buy a couple guys on this site that there is hardly any drone when towing or highway driving but sounds great.
as for boxes you'll find that there isn't many guys on here that likes gail banks due to a comment he made, but they make good products with safe power
