Flex-a-lite electric fan...

I ran across the new flex-a-lit electric fan for the 03-08 cummins, i was happy.. I use to run one on my 1500HD and loved it..

So i called flex-a-lite to order one and they asked me what yr mine was and i told them it was on 05 cummins and they told me, it wont work on your truck and i asked WHY?? They told me there only for the 03-08 cummins without electric clutch... SO correct me if i am wrong but doesn't EVERY 03-08 run an electric clutch???

SO if EVERY 03-08 has an electric clutch they why advertise "YOUR ABOUT 4 HOURS AWAY FROM BETTER PERFORMANCE"

The customer service guy i talked to did tell me this.... I dont write the advertisements i just answer questions.. That was after i told him correct me if i'm wrong but dont all 03-08's have electric clutchs..

I never had luck with flex-a-lite, tried to get a "kit" for my Jeep, got the run around on a manual control switch, ended up rigging Radio Shack stuff to make it work

Diesel is $3.93/gallon in my neck of the woods

Swapping to that fan would be a major step backwards in cooling capacity!

That's what I was thinking, maybe it can handle a stock truck, but what about a modded truck pushing 400+? I'll stick to the setup I have now.

Scotty, when your 6" tip gets cherry red - it's time to back off on the Smarty.

What is the CFM of a stock fan? Does the stock fan run all the time or free wheeling? What would be the hp advantage be?

always spinning, I believe. I don't know exact numbers, but I imagine its noticeable.

I wonder if turning it off would help it warm up faster in the winter?

The OEM fan pushes a LOT of air, but only when the electrically-operated viscous clutch engages... most of us never get to hear it turn on - it's unmistakeable, like there's suddenly a propeller under your hood.
