Yea Im just afraid with a low stall torque converter, and Flux 3.5's a load from a stand still is gonna get hot. You manual boys can get to whatever rpm before you start pulling if you want. An auto starts pulling down low, and low rpm= low boost add a heavy load and I might get a little toasty.
But as stated 19.5's with 265's or 285's are darn near as heavy as 22.5's. So the unsprung weight is close, its just the rotational mass that would be different. I have no idea the size difference (in height) between a 19.5 with 285s vrs a 22.5 and 255s ( I think thats what they run)
Anyway Im to dumb for this conversation so if anyone can explain it to me that would be great.

Well I think I read somewhere that 2 aluminum's on the back are actually lighter than the stock setup I really don't know if this is true but that would be nice.

I dont have the HP or built tranny that most guys do put with 410's 19.5/265s all aluminums my driveline had a slight vibration at take off loaded and I can spin the converter under me on Smarty #3 in overdrive when I go to pass. So they indefinably put more strain on the truck, I just look at the 22.5 and bigger and wonder what they would do the auto.....but if the auto is built it shouldn't matter.
I do know that even with 6 alums and 265's they are HEAVY!!!! There is no way it could be a wash with the stock wheels like JD thought he heard.... They are heavy!!
If I had a 373 with the auto I wouldn't even consider the 265's as they would drop my rpms way to low for pulling the weight I do.
Just my observations.

I have the 22.5's on my 2004 2wd dually. It is totally stock except for the two inch Daystar leveling kit. I have the 48RE with 4:10's and have noticed a very slight decrease in acceleration and it does take a bit longer to stop in a panic stop. Over all, I am very happy with the conversion. At 60 mph, my revs dropped about 300 rpm's. On the highway, my mpg's increased by about three. Pics in gallery.

I think the 19.5s look great. Sapps truck looks perfect to me. Personally I think the 22.5s look too big......
I'm sure you have plenty of power to turn either one and you know your trans will be OK too.......

It would be a done deal if I had a manual trans, but I dont. I will call the dually stop when I have cash in hand in a few weeks and see if they can help me out. I just cant get out of my head the ride I took in a ford with 22.5's and how slow it was. But he had no performance adders, Im a little different.
