Fast Track
Fast Track
Alright guys, I need some help with what to run and how to run it. Im racing at the mud bog in the fast track this weekend. Its opening weekend for the fast track so its going to be big. Im going to be racing in the stock class, 35's and under. I think I will be the only diesel there.
The fast track is a 200 ft dirt drag.
I just picked up new 4 in turbo back today and installing tomorrow. I have a smarty revo POD, and AFE mega cannon. To put the power down, I have a DTT billet from JTT with a single disk tc. Unfortunatly I am not going to have gauges in in time for this first race
but they are coming soon.
Question is, what should I run the smarty on, 9? And what should I change on the other preferences. I used to run it on 9 in my 06 with the same setup for short drags with no gauges and had no problems. I have been just running it on 1 with torque control on 3.
Since I don't have gauges yet, I won't know how hard it is boosting when I boost it up on the line. What kind of RPMs should I be looking for?
Any help would be appreciated. Im going to be racing agains mostly stock older trucks that are made to go through mud, I think I might have a chance, so at least Im told.

Well I made a few practice runs on a back road, first on level 5, then on level 7. I liked level 7, so I didn't try 9. I ran torque management on #4, left everything else alone.
I was scratched from my first pass because I didn't get to the starting line in time (I don't think they realized that the 2007 mega cab diesel waiting out there was a truck that was supposed to race). But I got my second pass and ran a 5.41 for a second place finish in my 35's and under limited class. After I spooled, there was no black smoke the whole way down the track, so Im going to bump it up to 9 and see how it does next race. Should have gauges, if funds allow, by next race. I can always change smarty settings in between classes.
Second place won me a little money and a trophy. It was quite comical when I pulled up to the starting line. I didn't get to run side by side with someone because my class had an odd number in it. I was the last truck to go. The announcer said, " ok Taylor, do the best you can now" in kind of a smart a$$ way (I was the first diesel to ever run on this fast track). His whole demeanor changed when I covered him and his ranger in black smoke and then ran down for a second place pass.
It was a lot of fun and anyone who has the opportunity to run mud races/fast track should do it! Im going to keep it up, I have a lot more plans for my truck as well, should be pulling some first place trophies in the near future!
I will try to get a video up if I can get my buddy to send it to me.
