Best I have heard of was a guy who had a Powerstroke reg cab 2x4 that he lowered 2.5 inches, put a sloping tonneau cover on, ran 235/85 tires at max pressure, ran 3.10 gears (or something close to that), and changed his injectors out. He got 28 MPG driving at 65 MPH or less. 30-40 MPG is ridiculous.

Of course...go right ahead! It is just a polite way of stating the obvious!

Hello,

I was able to get above 30 mpg doing a test. Ran it on the highway at 42 mph with the hazards on. Dangerous, yes, but you can get 30 plus under some unusual conditions.

If you don't believe me try it yourself. I didn't believe someone else and did my own test and ate crow.

Maybe the guy had a box that tricked the ecm and thus displayed outrageous numbers on the overhead. I have made my overhead read 30 MPG when I turn up the juice and drive easy. The more you turn up the box, the more fuel it sneaks past the ecm. I have never hand calculated over 24.1, and never over 22 with these tires. So it is possible that he read the overhead and thought wow!

Ask him how many miles over 1500 he got out of his last tank of fuel? Maybe that will help his math or at least point him in the right direction.

I've been getting 15.4 lately, I'm happy as pie now, before my tire pressure was around 35-40, now it's 80. Barely gets warmed up, I'm now working about 5 miles away.

Your 4x4 would probably only get 30-35 mpg with it

Me thnks he should write for Aesop fables

I would say the person is taking some serious recreational pharmaceuticals!!! It would be interesting to see what his hand calculated mileage is for several tanks of fuel. Everyone like a good story.
