Fabtech 6" Lift

I just helped a buddy install a 6" fabtech suspension lift and 37x13.50" nitto mud grapplers on 17x10 wheels on his 03 crew cab shortbed Cummins. The kit included new front springs, shocks, track bar bracket, upper and lower control arms, a block for the rear and new u-bolts for the rear.

The instructions suck. Plain and simple. They were 2 pages long and had maybe 5 pictures total including the one on the cover. The installation was MUCH easier than mine was. He didn't have to put on new control arm brackets which was nice. The kit did go on quite nicely. All said and done it took about 15 hours. Much better than the 36 it took for mine. It rides real nice as well. The shocks that came with the kit are to short though. They are maxed out just sitting on the ground. It didn't come with a new steering stabilizer which I thought was surprising. Putting the tires on was a different story. These suckers are HEAVY and do not fit without banging on the fender. When we first installed them, he could only turn the steering wheel one revolution before the tire would hit the fender. We actually tried to drove it that way and ended up bending one of his fenders. So after some work with a dremel and a 5 lb sledge, his tires fit nicely.

Overall, I was a nice lift and the price was right ($850). I just thought I'd let yall know.

I'm thinking of a six inch lift and toyo 37s. Are the 37s that much worse on mpg compared to 35s? I saw a truck with this setup and it looks sweet!

Andrew, my friend believes the overhead console which he said is dead on. If that's the case, then he's still getting 16 to the gallon with a heavy foot. He's got an EZ on it also.

Wow, that sounds great for 37s! I'll have to get some. Are 3.73 gears ok for the 37s with the 610 engine?

No. I would not run larger than 35's with those gears. I can get 14-18 with my set up depending on conditions unloaded.

Would 4.10 gears and 37s be like 3.73 gears stock tires? A guy told me that can burn his 37s with the 3.73 gears and no engine mods.

Andrew, either that guy has a stick and he dumps the clutch at 2500rpm or he's lying. My friend has the SO engine with an EZ, straight pipe, BHAF, and 3.73's and he can't even begin to think about smoking his tires. The 4.10's would make for a great gear with these tires.

Gearing for 37's

I have 35's on My 3500 with a six speed with 3:73's and wish I had 4:10 gears. I plan on 37's with a 5-6 in lift and will go to 4:88 gears at that time.
3:73's are certainly too high for 37's. If you don't wanna change the gears
go with 35's

There are so many things wrong with this thread!!!

37"s had to have fender mods to fit with a 6" lift: Wrong wheels
Had to beat the fenders with a sledge hammer: Mickey Mouse
16 mpg with 37"s: No way!
Roasting 37"s with a stock 3:73: Doubtful, and a great way to break somthing.

Dan, are those the wheels kore perfomance sells?

What is the back spacing and offset of those Weld Cheyannes? How wide are the wheels. I kinda want to run a 10X20 weld Dakkar with 37's. I should be able to do this with a 6in lift. I'm going to a road armor bumper which will further increase the tire clearence in front. My 35 in BFG Muds fit fine with stock wheels with only 2.5in leveling springs so I can't imagine having problems with 37 at 6in with the right wheels. In case others in the fourm don't know what I'm talking about , see Dan's truck photos on the link provided.

I just put cooper 37s on my stock steel wheels with a superlift 6" lift...no rub at all. At full crank slight rub on the control arm, but, only on full lock.

I have 37's and 3.73's and easily get 18mpg (US) on the highway and 14 in the city. I also have no problem with them rubbing with my 6" lift.

Well, come to find out that the shop only sold him a 4" kit, not the 6" kit. But even after putting spacers on the front end and bigger blocks in the rear, trimming the fenders and bumpers some, the tires still rub when you turn the steering wheel so I have no clue as to what's going on. I'm beginning to think that all my buddy got was maybe a 3" lift cause with the amount of lift that's on there he should be able to clear those tires with ease. I know I could probably clear them with my truck and I've only got 4.5" of lift.
