There are some opinions out there to ditch the muffler and keep the resonator. Helps with the drone...

ahhh nuts....
i was hoping not to have to hear that...

All of our trucks have aftermarket exhausts (gassers) so we're used to the "throater" (yes its a word.... haha ok maybe not....) sound but i not quite sure about the drone... is it something specific to a diesel or any vehicle with an aftermarket exhaust....
how bad are we talking?
annoying to the point of????? or not all that bad....

It is actually pretty annoying. My trucks been straight piped for only a few weeks and stop and go driving is starting to get to me. Really thinking of adding some sound deadener to my doors so I don't have to hear the exhaust as much, but everyone else does However on the highway, you can't hear anything while cruising.

so is it worth putting on the exhaust and keeping the resonator or am i just better off leaving the stock one on if i dont want to remove the resonator?

Edit... I just found an old post on this... Looks like the way to go is new muffler (or deleat) and leave the resonator on....

next question....
How much of a difference in drone between just doing a muffler deleat but keeping the resonator and aftermarket muffler and keep resonator? is there a difference or does the resonator remove all drone?

Personal opinion is to get rid of the muffler and keep the resonator. You don't need an aftermarket muffler. While you are at it you might as well get the cat delete. But keep the resonator or you might regret it.

Chris,

As a fellow Las Vegan, just remember - don't lose your CAT.

I have a 5" turbo back system in my garage that I'm trying to get rid of because it eliminates the cat, and as I'm sure you're aware, when they inspect our trucks here in Clark County during the emissions test, they look for the cat!

Good luck

Hey EDR, You can make your "CAT" fit in that 5" system you have. Just cut the ends off of the cat and it will make the cat have a 5" in,out that will fit nicely in the system..
