I thought the factory exhaust was all stainless? Rust?

I thought it was "aluminized" tubing.
I've never had to replace one on one of my Dodge Trucks yet.
I've had 3, each with over 100,000 miles and no leaks.
I must be lucky.

Factory exhaust are 409 series SS, any 400 series will rust, it
takes a little longer. I bought a 304 SS from Larry in our store
on this site. Anyone living in areas that use salt on roads in
winter should buy any 300 series SS exhaust. Will never rust.

The factory exhasuts are low grade SS and have tight bends that restrict flow. You may want to consider a complete system if allowed. A pretty decent one is MBRP, easy to install, not that expensive. A straight thru muffler will be kinda loud though.

Maybe a local member can give you a ride so you will know how they sound at speed. Mine drones at 62MPH.

Luck, Kurt

Look at one of the 304 ss exhaust, you will never
replace it again.

ortz2006, did you ever do anything with your exhaust? If you did I would like to hear it. I only live about 10 miles from you.

There is no "tight bends" on his 06, a complete new system is a waste of money unless he's over 600 hp. I'd look at Donaldson or Nelson muffler, not obnoxiously loud like many aftermarket "performance" mufflers. My 40" Nelson cost me a whole $67 from my local Cummins store.

Don't know for sure, check with Mark at Nolf's, he will tell you. Since yours is an 06 and came with a Cat them you may have to have it on to get inspected. Mine is an 03 and doesn't have one so I don't need one, just a muffler of something that looks like one. Why did you choose MBRP??

Give Mark a call, he will tell you. I've been looking on Ebay also and they seem to be the best prices. I need to buy a good lift pump and a set of gauges and Ebay is average on FASS and AIR DOG and there are not too many options on gauges. Next will be a Smarty JR.
