Exhaust question

First time to post here so you may have to excuse my ignorance. I've been a ford man for quite sometime until many problems with my latest 6.0. I am now a dodge(Cummins) man. I must say the switch was a good one and I have no regrets. My truck is a 2005 2500 sb 6spd with no mod's yet. I am wanting that big rig sound though. I have heard these straight piped and like it but don't want to buy a complete system since I already have 4" turbo back (don't I)? Does anyone make a pipe to replace the cat and muffler that will work with stock system? I have thought about 5" stacks but can't really sacrifice space in this already short bed. I plan on adding a edge/attitude later so I do want to open the exhaust so it will flow better and keep egt's down. But mostly I want the sound. What is my best choice.

Booger, Congrats on your new truck and welcome to DTR! There are lots of good exhausts out there. I happen to have put a Magnaflow 30'' on mine. Cat was deleted with a piece of 4'' pipe. Sounds awesome in my opinion for a 3rd gen truck.

But, if you really want the "big rig" sound, you need to do something with the stock air box. There are several options there including the Scotty 5, Quadzilla Air etc. I went with the AFE Stage 2 that includes the "torque tube" and MAN.......YOU CAN HEAR THE TURBO SPOOLING IMMEDIATELY. Sounds very OTR Truck like. I don't even really notice the Magnaflow until I really get on it...because of the turbo whistle.

Booger,

We have the MBRP performance replacement mufflers that bolt on in place of the stock muffler, they have the welded hangers that reuse the stock rubber mounts etc. They are made from 409 stainless like the stock exhaust systems is as well so it all matches up. Cat test pipes are also available, if you get both you will have a straight thru 4 inch system, but you won't have the rasp and drone that straight pipe systems have for some folks. Call us if you have any questions etc.

Hey Mark I got my exhaust system for my 04 ford dually from you guys and it was awsome. My muffler is not straight thru though, it comes in on the top and out the bottom, or visa versa. Do you offer that type muffler as well. Or even better a delete pipe bent to fit with the cat delete. I will need a airbox as well. Not sure which one yet. Thanks everyone.

Booger,

That's exactly what the MBRP performance replacement muffler, it has the low in high out covered with an S shaped pipe that is included with the kit, bolts right on. We also have the cat test pipes for off road and racing use that bolt right on. Take a look at the AFE Stage I and Stage II Pro Guard 7 systems for an intake.

marty welsh,

On a 2002 look at the MBRP's we have pics if you want to see them. They have 100% welded hangers and bolt right on. Most systems have clamp on hangers and lots of them also have hollow core mufflers too, the MBRP has a muffler packed with a ceramic blanket and stainless steel wool, sounds good and never blows out etc. The systems are available in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless and even in duals if that is of interest to you. Plus they are less costly than a Banks system which is 409 stainless by the way.
