exhaust options
I'm looking at doing an exhaust on the cheap. Is it worth it to buy a Cat delete pipe and a hi perf muffler (magnaflow, aero turbine, etc...) to put in the stock 4" system or would it be better to just buy a kit? I like to do everything myself and as cheap as possible but I don't want to make more work for myself and sacrifice quality by mixing and matching.
Thanks

I have a Donaldson 40" muffler on my truck. 4" in and 4" out, was a pretty good replacement for the factory muffler. Very free flowing, not much louder than factory, but made my truck sound more like a big-rig (which I like!). The outlet isn't off-set like the factory muffler tho, so it forces you to cant the tail section up a bit, which will bring the tail-pipe in toward the bed a bit. I fixed that with a Meg's 4" SS exhuast tip. It put the pipe back out where it belongs. Total cost was $70 for the muffler and $40 for the tip.

I have 2 hangers (I think, been a while since I put the muffler on) on the muffler. You could probably do without, but these mufflers aren't light. Not as heavy as the factory muffler, but it still isn't light...
