My vote is either Pacbrake or BD Engine Brake. They both have excellent products. They use an on board air compressor which can be useful for other things as well!

The PacBrake has been working very well and we have installed many of them. Pac also offers a shifter lever switch, clutch pedal switch and air storage tank as options. Give us call to discuss these options and get more information about the exhaust brake options.

Jacobs don't require all that extra hardware, it's vacuum operated.. Mine has worked flawlessly now for five years or more and well over 100000 miles. My sons truck has the B&D and I can't tell any difference between the two as far as holdback. His does rattle a lot though, drives me crazy when I got his truck.

I like my Jacob, but you do have a vacuum pump instead of a compressor (which could be handy for other things, like someone said).

I went with the Jacob mainly because it comes from Cummins parts house or DC.

Bd brakes are of the highest quality of which you will pay a little more for one but they do spend a little more time on trying to make them the least restricitive when not in use

Pac has a new version of their 4" and 5" inline brakes out. Very interesting to see how it performs compared to their original design and the BD design.

I've installed and used both the BD and the Pac. Pulling the Pac 4" inline off(sold) and installing one of the new style 5" inline brakes. We'll see what it can do.

Fred, is there any chance you can post a picture when yours comes in? I'd sure like to see ahead of time what I'm going to have to decide on when I get up to Piers shop.

???

I used a Pac Brake on my 99 and it worked flawlessly for the whole time I used it but am considering the Jacobs brake from DC or Cummins this time. It has been released for the 05 now.
