Exhaust brake for 03 and early 04 auto trucks
Any 03-04 owners running an E-Brake without replacing the aforementioned thrust washer? Any issues with your trans? I want an E-Brake badly but if I have to pull the trans to replace that washer then there would be no question that I also upgrade the internals. The problem is that I really can't afford to do all that right now. Any opinions???
The problem is not the thrust washer itself. The problem is that is dosen't get enough lube. Dave G. fixed me up with a drum with welded up holes to make sure the washer gets lubed properly. Do you really need the Ebrake? How many trips through the mountains do you have planned? If only one you can make it without it, just go slow on the passes.
I don't actually hit the mountains often at all. Our mountains are mere molehills compared to what some of the country has. I'm not dying to get one but if I got a deal then I would be all over it.....
I am with ya. I go once a year or so with the trailer. I would also love to have an exhaust brake, I am setup for it, I just can't justify the cost right now just like you. So, I lump it another year....LOL
Since the economy is still in the crapper I am watching every little penny. Wife just got laid off for cheaper help.
