i put the magnaflow turbo back on my truck and its rattling now at idle sometimes and if i stand in the bed of my truck and jump or something itl make it rattle


waht could be the problem? mis aligned? clamps not tight enough??

also i was thinking about taking the muffler out and getting a a piece to slide in to make it louder its to quiet..anyone offer something for that? or just use a muffler shop

 

My father has the turbo back Magnaflow on his truck. Just the other day we were outside unloading the truck and we saw the exaust tip drop down about 6 inches. Somehow the tip of the exaust rattled it's self loose from the rubber bushings. We banged it back on and havn't had a problem since. Exaust has been on for 35k+ miles and this is the first issue we encountered with it.

You can probly take off the muffler and find a piece of metal tubing to make it a straight pipe if you want. Head this warning, it will drone if it's straight piped. If that's what your looking for great, if not i'd leave the muffler on.

 

check the hangers mine are touching where the muffler is. on mine i will have to slide the whole exhaust forward. so just check all the hangers.

 

I think this might just be a magnaflow thing as mine does it also. Im missing my cat also and was susspecting that was the problem but I never layed under it and inspected it after I installed it. I also feel like its pretty stinkin quiet. I spend to much time on the highway pullin a trailer to go straight piped so ive just decided this is what I get. Also I notice that if I rev the motor 200 rpm it doesnt rattle anymore. Any other Magnaflow guys out there getting this rattle?

 

yea once you rev it up it goes away..


so maybe they say leave it bolt on...but would all go away if a local shop where to put a few small welds on ea piece to keep it tight..or better clamps

 

mine was doing this also.it turned out to be the cat rubbing on the skid plate mount.i took it out and ground the edges down ans it fixed it.no more rattle.
