How is your smoke control? It's getting hot and my truck will smoke like a pig. It did it even before the sticks.

What smoke? Maybe because I have stock sticks but the only way I can smoke is if I lug it hard, or stab it and let out on purpose from a dead stop.

I have not changed my driving style at all, and this thing is always ready to go when you want too. I am 100% happy. A guy on CF just put down 630 ish and only 1400 degrees so he still has room to go. If your looking for an all around turbo, I would say make a phone call.

Hey mods if you wanted to put this up as a s300 based turbo install sticky feel free. Any s300 frame should be very similar, just a thought.
I am curious to see how it tow's. When I was turbo shopping Chris talked to me about the same turbo but with a 12cm housing, I wonder why he was recommending a different housing for you?

I ended up going with the Garret and it's great, but will not support 600 rwhp, about 430-450 is it's limit with <1300° EGT's. When I try to build boost at low rpms I can pull about 10-12 at 1500 and then she is GONE!

Now hook something up and tow :-)

One of the hardest things to do is pick the appropriate turbo. You get into this he said blah, blah, blah. I can't blame you a bit for going with a Garrett. They light fast. Just twin your truck and be done with it. I need to pick a new turbo setup myself. Twins, single, the frustration continues.....LOL

We went 14 due to my overall hp goal. I want 600-650 so the 14 is a better option over the 12. After having this hair dryer a while I can't see any reason anyone would go with a 65 wheel or 12 exhaust on a HO motor. This thing screams, I think is the perfect charger for stock to 650.

No, I have been so busy I haven't even had a chance to pull my boat out and hit the water . I have to imagine with a load behind her it is going to be even better than empty.

Bummer!

Curious to see how it does, I bet at 1000-1800 it's a little slower than empty, and 1800+ it's better. But that's nothing but a guess.

Yeah I have a lower stall converter as well. With stock sticks and a stock cp3 I really can't push this thing, which I like. at the same time it spools so fast I don't need to worry about injectors like most guys with say a 64/71 do (to help with spool that is). I really think anyone in the market for a turbo should check this one out. And let me be clear call E.D., Fleece, Forced Inductions, all three build custom chargers. I am not trying to sell anyone anything from a certain vendor. I am however telling you this is by far the best charger I have ever run, hands down. It really feels like it was built for the truck (cause it was ). I can't explain it but at all times it is ready to go, their has been no trade off, or change in driving style which I have had with my other set ups.

The disclaimer is I haven't towed anything yet. Again I went from a contractor that needed a truck and my trailers in 08, to a Firefighter so I really don't need to drag anything around. That being said I have no doubt this thing will tow awesome. It wants more fuel and the harder you push it the more it wants to eat. So in my head I think a load is just going to give her more fuel and make her run even better. But theirs a lot going on on my head.

Again if anyone has any questions feel free here or PM.

Oh and I have to cheerlead a little bit, thanks Engineered Diesel for making me the perfect charger.

Ok so I dragged a little weight around this week, estimated 6K so I know it's not much but the turbo did awesome. Bad part is I parked her running to let her cool while I offloaded came back to a pool of coolant left front. So installed a new water pump Friday, only 60k on the truck. If it ain't one thing it's another.

Water pumps should be like quarters, carried in the center console. I'm on my third at 89k.

This looks like the turbo for me...I was set on getting a set of twins(my goal is 600whp) stock like spool. If this will give me the same thing then I might as well go this route, and keep it simple! Know anything about this HOLSET CHEETAH??

Thanks ryethomas for great write up. I'll definitely be using it to install my turbo. I just recently purchased pretty much the same turbo. Bw 63/68/14 wastegated with 3rd gen cover. I'm hoping everything bolts up with little problems. But I'm mostly worried about my 5in dp. I know your dp is very tight in there. Do you think there is anyway a 5in would fit? Or will I have to put stock one back on and expand it to the rest of my 5in exhaust. Also what kind of improvement over stock will I feel? Is it very noticeable? I will be doin 50hp injectors later but gonna keep it stock for now. Also do you think my edge will light this turbo very well and do you think the hot unlock would be a good investment for now at least until efi live comes out for my truck. Also is there anything i can get before install so i have it handy before install like gaskets or studs or ect. Thanks for write up and comments.
