Just got my pyro installed with my BD GT tuner. The probe is installed in the down pipe after the turbo. Just wanting to know how hot is to hot in that location.

Every truck is different, but my post turbo is about 300 - 500 cooler than my pre turbo depending on what your doing. Temp lags significantly from the pre turbo which responds much faster to driving conditions.
Put all your settings on stock on a hot day and run up hill hard pulling if you can. Note the peak temp. Set defuel about 100 - 200 above that.

You really should move the probe to pre-turbo. As the guys have said the post-turbo temps can be 300-500* lower than pre-turbo, depending on the load, etc... I don't know how much timing the BD add's so I would say 1300* is where I would set my alarm, so thats 800-1000* post turbo. The other factor is how close you got the probe to the down pipe, but its at least 6" from the turbo, and thats less than ideal for monitoring EGT's.

Really its easier to just move it.

Not a good idea on a 04.5-07, they run 1450* or hotter in stock trim. Put a tuner on there that adds timing at 1550-1650* means melted pistons.

You really would be better off too move it to the manifold now, and then when you want to down the road add one post-turbo.
