From Edge Juice (w/Attitude) to Smarty (w/gauges)
From Edge Juice (w/Attitude) to Smarty (w/gauges)
I know there are a lot of Smarty fans on here, though I know there are a lot of folks who have used (and still do) the Juice. I've had the Edge Juice w/Attitude monitor for about a year or so now and have been fairly happy with it (had to replace it once under warranty). I don't turn it up all that often (usually roll on level 1 - mileage) and never go past 3 (drive) on this stock tranny. It also doesn't smoke much (I know, I know . . . not into blowing fuel all the time, just saying . . . ), even when the low boost fueling is turned up.
I guess my question is this: Has anyone here had the Juice w/Attitude and switched to the Smarty? What do you think? Good choice or bad?
I don't particularly like the look of the Attitude monitor and I love the look of gauges - and it would also be nice to take it into the dealership without the obvious chip sitting there. Thanks guys.

i had the edge juice w/ att for a week. was lent a smarty and turned the edge to "0" for the use of gauges. had smarty on 3 and EGT's dropped 150* compared to the edge on the same level plus 3 on the smarty felt stronger than 5 on the edge (just my fat arese seat of the pants feel). sold the edge and bought a smarty and gauges.
Im still running Juice/Attitude, have yet to try a smarty but would be interested in it. As for smoke, get the hot unlock code, and when you feel the urge to blow some smoke, crank it up to six and roll into it instead of punching it. It'll smoke really well. I agree, I like the looks of gauges better than the attitude, but for taking it to the dealer, attitude is much easier to remove than gauges so you can leave it virtually stock.

Thanks, that's what I was wondering . . .

Yeah, I'd love to drop the hot unlock code on this thing and crank it up, I just don't want to smoke my transmission just yet . . . and I need to do something with the intake too . . . and probably the fuel delivery . . . and, well, you get the idea. haha No transmission problems yet?

The main thing that tempts me about the smarty is the egt's being lower and being able do set your speedo and speed limiter. otherwise I like my juice and attitude with the all in one digital gauge and on the fly adjustability. By the way, the juice does smoke a bit on 5/5 and yes, I am in need of tranny work! After that though, maybe level 6 and an Mp-8!
I had the Hot J/A for about 1 year. I would not hear anything different the whole time I had it... I felt it was the best. One day I fried my ECM trying to stack the DiaBLOW
Predator and Lloyd@MidAtlantic drove me a Smarty to reflash it. The power delivery is 100% smoother. The Hot J/A was jerky on #5 and made a lot of heat.
Honestly, if you are content with the Edge 1-3 power levels then keep what you got. If you want good, smooth, linear power in higher quantities go Smarty. I think the Edge is the best box but there is only so much a box can do.
If you want to learn how the Edge makes power compared to a downloader let me know. I really like the J/A and have put 2 in my friends trucks. If you can, borrow a Smarty and drive it. Just make sure you have 685 bones ready to spend because you will want one BAD!

The things is, I'm wanting to do tranny work, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I went with the visual mods before a bunch of performance mods (probably bassackwards from what I should have done). I'd really like to have a Goerend tranny, as it's not too far of a drive from here - just need the cash and reason to do it . . .

Well if thats the case, get your tranny, then upgrade to a smarty. That will be awesome, you won't have to worry about tranny issues. Or you could save up for a tranny, and a smarty, put the smarty on and see how long your tranny holds up to the abuse.

All the fancy looks grow old after a few months anyway.
Its a little long, but here it is. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ghlight=diablo
Its crazy that I havent had these issues like you and everyone else across the country. You would think that my odds would be so overwhelming that I would have fried something by now on one of the trucks.
At any rate I have been wanting to go to smarty for awhile. Looks like another good reason.
I still have my Hot Juice (for gauges and turbo timer). I have stacked it with a Puck, Predator, and an X2. It made very good power, but man did it get hot ( I still have a stock turbo). I could hit well over 1500 like nothing if I wanted too
. After reading about the Smarty for over a year I decided to try it. It is a different beast! More power, much smoother, and I need to work to get it up too 1400 now! If you have any thought that the power bug will bit hard, go SMARTY! If you just want to be between 400-500 HP and have and do it very safely, go with the Edge. They are both outstanding products, but they are two different animals.
