Edge EZ vs. Bully Dog Triple Dog
Edge EZ vs. Bully Dog Triple Dog
From my signature you'll see that I do not have many mods, but I'm looking to add a programmer. I've searched the forum on different brands, but would like to some of your opinions. This is a work truck, by no means am I looking to make it fast. I would like to either buy an Edge EZ or a Bully Dog Triple Dog. Which one do you guys prefer/recommend?
The Tripple Dog on the lower settings would be better than just running presure only(EZ), therefore your injectors will last longer.
and when the bug bites, you can upgrade to crazy larry, then a trans, fuel system, twins, then Scary Larry, Nitrous, Water Injection, ect ect ect.....

I went and bought the Triple Dog, $500 (is that a good price?) This is first Diesel I have owned and I have always thought it had good power, but I was honestly shocked at the difference just in the "Performance" mode.
Quick question, is it okay to drive around in the performance or extreme modes on a daily basis? I do not drive fast, but when you need to pass someone or make a quick move it sure would help.
Thanks

There are several guys on here that run Extreme or Crazy Larry as their daily driving setting but overall, especially as a work truck....I'd say stay away from that.
I've ran my truck on Performance on a daily basis with no issues and then would kick it to tow/economy when I was towing obviously. I'm stacking my Edge EZ with my Triple Dog now and love it though so i'm running the Triple Dog on the lowest setting and using the EZ to control power settings...
I paid $500 for my Triple Dog from a local truck performance shop so I think thats a decent price. Can find it cheaper on EBay but I like doing business with a local shop!

I have both the Quadzilla 140HP race module and the Bully Dog Triple Dog downloader. I have not installed the Bully Dog yet, waiting to put some mileage on my Dodge. But I did want to let you guys know Klassedirect.com has really good prices on electronic performance parts, plus free shipping. Triple Dog is $469.

Im running a Bully Dog Triple Dog stacked with an Edge EZ. So if you can afford it you should deffinetly stack them it runs pretty good. But if you dont want that much power i recommend the Edge Ez it fuels alot harder at low end since its more of a pressure box while the Bully Dog Triple Dog adds Timing and is alot more of a dog off the line. I have my truck on stock tune right now with just the Edge Ez because im waiting for the new Crazy Larry Program to come out for the 2.4 version so if you buy a Bully Dog Triple Dog make sure you update it with atleast the 2.4 version.
Stacking modules on a stock trans is never safe....you're just driving on borrowed time
I cant say much because I've stacked modules before (Triple Dog with Edge EZ/Quad XZT)....but I drove with a conservative right foot and so far I've been lucky
Just recently changed my tranny oil/filter, my Cummins tech (and personal mechanic) said that just from looking at the oil, filter and the pan....it looked VERY good for having the added power. Hardly any clutch material at all in the bottom of the pan. He said that even stock trucks usually collect some clutch material, especially at my mileage (77k).
Again, I've been very lucky
