Edge EZ Installed

I got my Edge EZ in the mail today and went out and put it on tonight. I was a bit disappointed at first when I was just putting around my neighborhood and couldn't really tell much difference (I wasn't really getting on it). I then decided to drive out to the highway and run it a bit. WOW!!!! BIG difference!!! I'm all smiles now. Big difference in all gears, but mostly 5th and 6th it seems.

Next on the list.....guages and exhaust and gotta do something about that airbox.

It seems to be a bit better on the seat of the pants o' meter in the auto than the 6 spd. But, I wouldn't take it off my 6 speed for anything!

Your wallet is toast now!

I live in kansas city, but I do like to travel down that way. With the edge getting installed, I would like to have the "attitude" guages but might have to install other not knowing when the attitude will be released.

I'm sure you're right. Power or not the 6 speed is still kind of slow going through the gears. Once you get into 5th gear though that thing is a rocket!!

How hot is it there? When it's 90 degrees and higher here (which is 8 months outta the year ) it'll smoke for me.

You know, come to think of it, my wife's 04 doesn't really smoke either...hmmmmm...maybe the 3Gen's don't smoke like the others used to do. I would think if you had low turbo boost and stomped it, it would smoke. Maybe you need bigger side mirrors so you can see the smoke?

That's possible. I do think the 3rd Gens smoke less than the older ones though. Mine won't smoke at all unless I REALLY get on it...and even then it's not the thick black smoke you would expect to see from a diesel.

Took a trip to Houston over the weekend and if I didn't know better I'd say the EZ improved my fuel mileage. I haven't calculated by hand yet, but the trip computer showed 25.5 mpg on the way down there (sounds high to me) and about 24 mpg on the way back. Previously I was getting 21-22 on the highway at 70 mph.

I think the EZ freaks the overhead computer out. Wigs it out completely. Try calculating it by hand and figure if you've gained or lost. My 01 gained a teensy bit, not much, mind you, but a little, about 0.5 and the 04, I haven't bothered to figure it out as it does grocery getting duties and has no chance to improve.

I kind of suspected that the EZ must have somehow affected the computer because I didn't figure there was much chance that the numbers I was seeing was right....even though Edge claims it will increase your mileage by 10% if you continue driving in the same manner you did before.
