dynatrac hub conversion kit
dynatrac hub conversion kit
Anyone know how much they are running these days?
Im pullin the whole front axle out and replacing it with a new front axle, i cant deal with knowing my tires are going to wear uneven especially with 41's.. Now is the time to do this dynatrac conversion kit, im also throwing a locker in there..
anyone talk to dynatrac lately?

Does this mean that you are testing it or will be getting it as soon as its available? Ive been waiting for them to get theres out so i could hear some reviews on it. I cant wait to get some manual hubs and 35 spline axles on this truck.
I would be more concerned with snapping an axle shaft with that locker on a 7,000 lb rig with 41 inch tires and 600 ft.lbs of torque. Even 35 spline 1.5" shafts aren't going to be that strong, unless you get some cryo-frozen shafts or something, and run CTM u joints. That would make it "more" reliable but still pretty ballsy if you are gonna wheel it hard.
EDIT:
Stripping out the hubs? Huh? Granted, it's 4 AM, but you lost me.
And furthermore, to the original poster, I would seriously look at getting an ARB locker instead of a Detroit for the simple fact that it's going in up front and you aren't going to want it locked up all of the time when you lock the hubs in. Turning is going to bring the suck, and you just simply don't need to use a locker all of the time up front. I'm saying an ARB because I have a couple and love them, but any selectable locker would be a better choice, I think. My 2 cents. Detroits are bulletproof, but running one up front is something I personally would not do.

I'm saying that with a 7000lb+ truck with 600+ftlbs running on 41" tires, putting on selectable hubs (Dynarac hub conversion) may be creating a weak link. Solid hubs are usually stronger.

But, with them, the front driveshaft would still spin.
ill be testing it as soon as the last of the parts arive..
as far as drive flanges vs locking hubs.. me ill take the benifits that the 35 spline warn premiums provide.. i wont be needing the extra strength of the drive slugs.. and u joints.. i got a set of 4340 super joints that make ctms look almost ... well .. small..
heres a comparison next to a spicer 806..
The hub conversion is something I have been looking in to as I plan on keeping this truck a long time. Dynatrac, $1885 complete, available and has been for a while. EMS, waiting for hubs from Australia, here very soon, none yet sold and price will be less than Dynatrac by a few hundred. I will probably go with Dynatrac as it is close to me and with no track record I don't want to do EMS's R&D. My question is, has anybody installed one and how is it doing? What have you noticed, less vibration, better MPG, anything?

I've been looking at some pictures that were posted of the Dynatrac setup. The one thing that looks weak to me is the way the spindles are mounted to the hub assy. There are only 4 bolts holding the spindle on, so only those bolts holding the whole wheel on! It looks a little weak to me, but I hven't looked at one in person. What do you guys think?

Take a look at what is holding it on from the factory, 4 bolts. As far as the strength of the Dynatrac system, it's got to be stronger than factory. Take a look at the factory wheel bearings, inner and outer are about 1/16 inch apart. Not good for big tires. I want to hear from somebody with long term experiance with the Dynatrac.
