Dudes, where's my code# ???

Other evening floored it pretty good and really called on it. CEL light came on as it sometimes does. It always goes away after a few days. Truck runs great. Anyhoo, since I dont own code reader for OBD, thought I would try the quick off on off on off on real quick with switch to get code number. So the mileage #'s dissappeared and _ _ _ _ _ appeared. Hmmm, I thought, good now the code # will come up in a second or two. But no, the WORD in small letters d o n e appeared. Did this few times yest and today, always same after _ _ _ _ _ appears, then again the word d o n e. Anybody heard of this? ( I did go to parts store and borrowed scanner months ago and it was some fuel code ? can't remember # but I always have good fuel and rail pressure, and truck runs great. ( I guess some parameters were high like rail pressure or something) ANY THOUGHTS?? THANKS

Means your truck is throwing no codes at this point....

No worries!

The code you got before was probably like Rail Pressure Sensor error or failure or something to that extent. Seems like I got that code myself before...

Others will chime in!

Thanks RR. I agree, I guess parameters are factory set, and it you venture outside that range the CEL come one. So you think it is true that you can erase record of CEL's by disconnecting batteries for an hour or so, and then turning switch on, while they are disconnected, and they are erased from ECM?

if you had a smarty or similar dl then you could check it out. Sometimes I have dtcs stored and no code showing so I zero it out and end of story.

From what I've read, the battery trick won't clear codes on the newer trucks. It is stored untill cleared by a scanner.

Nelrod, If your close to Statesville swing by and I'll clear it with the Smarty.Live in Love Valley if you've ever herd of it.

I'd really like to see how those 285's look on your truck!
