AEM makes the dryflow which I used in the S&B setup for a long while. I now use the Amsoil EAAU4085 filter in the S&B setup. The Amsoil is a universal size and just barely fits in there. It is a bit bigger than the AEM dryflow. I had to reposition the S&B box away from the fender to make it work. The Amsoil has many different sizes for your own custom setup. So far I like the Amsoil much better, just seems to breath easier. I feel that the AEM bruteforce filter might have been a tad to small for our vehicles. Why else would they come out with a new system with a much larger filter. Just my 2cents worth.

This setup will work the best. The filter is good for 100K and you clean it with 20 PSI shop air @ 25K intervals. The Cool Hose reduce`s intake air temps and allows an unrestricted air flow. You could even cut a 4 inch hole in the bottom of the stock air box for more flow, add a length of 4 inch ducting to keep it from sucking in any water. This work and sounds great. Cheap too.

Do you use the cool hose? If so hows the Turbo whistle? Seems like you get more whistle from metal pipes then rubber pipes not like im looking for the loudest whistle (wouldnt be going enclosed box then) but more whistle then I have now would be better...

So then does the S&B come with an oiled filter? What about the Volant same thing? I guess if I got something that came with an oiled filter I would use it till dirty then replace with a dry..

Amsoil drop-in?

I've got a '07 CTD and the Amsoil drop-in. Compared to my stock air filter, the nanofilter has some slop in the fit before closing the cover. Anyone else noticed this? My "nano" fit great in my '99.

It seems to be a trade off. I removed my AEM bruteforce for two reasons. One was the noise. Not the whistle but the air movement sounds and the second was that the metal tube got very hot to the touch. Since I'm not sure if the heated metal tube would also heat the air flowing inside. Plastic is suppose to reduce that effect, but also reduces the noise you hear from the turbo. The AEM was sweet because you could hear the turbo whistle at around 10-15 mph while riding through your neighborhood. I gonna try the the AEM tube wrapped with my slightly over sized Amsoil filter.

Some of the Ams. techs will tell you whatever you want to hear but the guy who told me 15 mic. sounded very sure of himself. I'm curious to hear what others get from them. Craig

So far only the AEM makes a non oiled system, The Brute Force and the new larger Workhorse. The S&B is an oiled sytem. I had to make a few adjustments to get the AEM bruteforce dry filter in the S&B box. Amsoil has many size options for their NANO (Dry) filter. I have no experience with the AFE setups and so far nobody has owned up to having their new dry filter.

Has anyone actually checked the temperature difference between stock and the cool air intake? There is a IAT (intake air temp) sensor on these trucks. Since I have a scan gauge I can watch the intake air temp and the only real difference I've seen is with a bigger or strait exhaust will drop the temp about 8 deg.

That seems right to me as well??

As for the AFE Dry filters I was reading another thread about it but no one has any experience with them yet. I wonderwhat the size of them are? And also what kind of adjustments did you have to do to use the AEM in the S&B?

Are you sure?????
when I did research on my intake, another member measured his stage II filter for me and it was 6"
that is what gave me the idea to run a 6" filter to begin with.

AFE prodry oem replacemant drop in filter-$78.00
remove baffle from stock intake tube-FREE
great flow, great filtering, no need to worry about engine heat reaching the filter. this is the best way to go imo.
