I installed the MBRP Cool Duals on 2 of my customers trucks, an 06 6spd ram and 05 auto ram, and the drone is terrible! I am contemplating cutting them out to straight or else stick another muffler ahead of it. what kind of muffler has any one used? (the cat is out of both trucks)

 

Call Brent w/ Allied Exhaust. I believe they are the largest distributor of exhaust in the US. You being a dealer will be no big deal to get what you need. He hooked me up with a muffler that had the two 4" exhaust tips built onto the muffler, as in designed that way. I think he said it had been built by Holley or was built for Holley,...something like that. It's maybe 25% louder than a stock muffler,..sweet sound IMHO. NO Drone!! I did weld on previously a couple extra rubber insulated mounts off the frame,...my truck lost the kitty, fyi.

 

I would just install the MBRP resonator. That will knock the drone down, plus you can get it in 409 Stainless. Just a thought!

 

What tip is on the exhausts. Tip seems to affect drone alot I know it did on my truck. The resonator or an aeroturbine might be needed. ks

 

Aeroturbine and install it as far forward as possible under the cab...

When you pull the cat on any of the 2004.5+ trucks you get a lot louder volume, not necessarily drone, just volume. The cure is one of the MBRP resonators, or if the truck is a long enough body a full second muffler mounted as far forward as possible. Plus if you have the single wall 6 inch tips that actually accentuates the sound levels like a bell!

resonated 5" tips are on this one.I will look into getting this aeroturbine and also try the MBRP resonator, thanks to all.

 

I am running the mbrp cool duals with 6" tips, and I had to put the 30" Magnaflo muffler that I pulled off back on to kill the drone. I think the truck has a much better sound now.It is loud when you get on it but fairly quiet when crusing. I lost my cat some time back as well.
