DRONE attack.

Looking for a no holds barred way to flat out eliminate the drone in the rear of my megacab.

The stock muffler was terrible. I installed a Donaldson, and it's better. However, it's still not very good. Towing my toyhauler, especially when it lugs a hill, is just agonizing. You can hardly hear yourself think in the back. It's like you're on an flight right next to the engines.

Isn't there a solution to this. Aerosomething er other muffler? Double layer Dynomat? Brown bag? Ice and water shield? Spray in Bed liner? All of the above?

I have got to find a solution to this. Just sat in a new Ford dually with the Scorpion motor...it sounds like grammas Buick. Soooo quiet. Love my diesel, but man my ears are burning.

Aero tubine...that's the name I was thinking of. Thanks.

I'm not sure that's the best solution though. There was one that had some reflective exhaust properties that canceled out noise as I recall. I just read about Hushpower and that might be what I'm thinking of.

I gotta find a solution...or solutions.

Whew, with that title it had me thinking a bunch of Drone bees were chasing you because they thought you were their queen...

I am happy with my 5050XL Aeroturbine muffler...

I installed Fatmat . . www.fatmat.com/ Has better noise insulating properties than dynamat, plus, much better pricing. Now the muffler/resonator that came with my 5" exhaust is liveable.

Yeah and Brown bread. I think that's only half the battle. In fact...this is a battle. I think I'll throw down some Grace Ice and Water shield and put a 4" tuned resonator in at 90 degrees like the mustang boys are doing. Just gotta check my resonance RPM's first. This could turn into a project...

Corsa guarantees no drone. Mine never has.

Didn't know it when I bought the exhaust but they do sell just the muffler. They're expensive but I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I stopped the drone with a 4" cherry bomb glasspack close to the engine. Craig

I wonder if that's because the cherry bomb worked, or if the weight made a difference. I read on a Duramax site today (don't hate me) that they've had drone issues too. GM released a TSB for a dumb bell thing that gets welded on near the cat to change the resonance frequency. Seems to work. Thought that was interesting.

Thinking about it more though. I really only have the drone towing. I don't really get it during normal driving. I wonder if it's reflecting off the toyhauler more then I first thought.

I've read on here before about ppl welding a piece of angle iron the distance of the downpipe to muffler and it helping eliminate drone.

I see a lot of guys claiming the FTE Resonator has solved the drone of their straight pipes. He offers a stainless 17" and a not so stainless 30". Check it out it might be what your looking for. I have seen guys claim they have been fighting drone for years and tried his resonator and problem solved.

Wally is a pretty nice guy to deal with and i have bought nothing from him, yet !

Make sure the tail pipe is out past the body.

since Donaldson makes 100's of mufflers, can you list the part number of the one you installed?
