Drilling Exhaust Manifold For Thermocouple
Drilling Exhaust Manifold For Thermocouple
Wanting to put the thermocouple in the rear exhaust manifold port. This is right over the turbo, so I need to drop the turbo to drill (RIGHT)? Question 1 to those who have dropped the turbo, was the gasket reuseable ? Question 2 is 32 ft. lbs of torque correct on an 05 truck ? Any advice & or pics would be very much appreciated.
Intalled mine yesterday just ahead of the junction at cylinder #3 (just behind the heat shield) per Geno's instructions. Works great, easy to get to. Cleaned the chips out with a small magnet. Have fun!
I couldn't get one of the bolts on the turbo loose. I consulted some people here about it, and told be not to even worry about dropping the turbo. I taped up the exhaust pipe with some duct tape, left about a 1" hole in the center of the tape. Greased my 7/16ths bit, fired the truck up and drilled the hole. the shavings blew right out. (make sure to wear safety glasses). Tapped the hole the same way(with welders gloves on) and was done. No chips to worry about. Hope this helps.
