Question DPPI Exhaust

Just received my 4" SST exhaust from DPPI but the box it came in is from MBRP Inc. The instructions and warranty card are also from MBRP. Who's exhaust did I really get. Has anyone else had this same experience??

I also checked MBRP's website and their P/N for their exhaust system is identical to DPPI's. I feel that DPPI's website is a bit misleading in that it makes it sound like they design and manufacture their own exhaust systems.

Mebbe DPPI makes it, and MBRP is a retailer for them? What did Mark say? I'm sure you called him first, right?

mjbarr99,

I was confused when I got mine too. DPP acts like they manufacture or design when talking to them. Seems misleading. But it is a great system and I don't care whose name is on it. Love the sound and the quality.
When people ask what system I put on I don't know what to say, DPP or, as it says on the tip, MBRP.

I believe that DPP is the manufacturer of the system and that it may be sold by other dealers under a different name.

MBRP is clearly the manufacturer. The paperwork says "This exhaust system has been designed, tested, and built here at MBRP Inc." Their name is on the pipe, they guarantee it, they supply the installation instructions, their phone number, address and web site come with it. It's an MBRP system.
I'm very happy with the system. I'm just surprized. The quality is excellent, the installation was easy, and the sound is so nice. I don't know why DPPI plays it up as their own work. When I first got the box and opened it, I thought the wrong system had been sent.
It's no big deal in this case, in fact it's better than I expected. Just consider this example: if I would have ordered an AFE air filter and received a K&N, it would have gone right back. If I order BFG's, that's what I anticipate receiving.

DPP, for many moons, had MBRP manufacture a system to their own specifications. This is very common in the exhaust system industry, as benders that will do 4" and 5" systems are pretty rare. I believe there are really only 3 or 4 shops in North America bending pipe for our trucks, despite the fact there are dozens of exhaust suppliers.

Recently, MBRP and DPP merged their different designs together and now share boxing in order save on costs. So while it may not be a pure DPP system, they've definitely had an input on design, and all warranty will still be through your supplier (whether it be DPP direct or one of their dealers).

MJBar99,

Wanted to let you know about DPPI and MBRP. MBRP has been our contract bender since 2002, no secret’s there, anyone that had a reason to be interested has known that for a long time. I contacted them in 2001 and we’ve been doing lots of business ever since. With the growth of DPPI and MBRP, keeping inventory on the shelf has been a challenge. To cure the inventory problem DPPI made a decision about 6 months ago. We decided to combine systems with the MBRP and start packaging them all in the MBRP packaging. Producing the same part number for both companies cuts the quantity of part numbers in half and lets us build them in much larger quantities at a better cost per unit. Plus you get the best features of both systems. What this has done is get the customer a much better price on our systems. You’ll notice soon that our T-409 stainless steel systems are going to be at a much lower price. Plus with our T-409 you STILL get T-304 welded hangers where possible and a complete T-304 muffler. We want the systems built with the T-304 muffler and hangers because if you are going to have a problem, corrosion wise it will occur in the hangers and muffler. Don’t let me get on my soap box and started telling you how good our systems are though the members here will do that!

Starting very soon you will see our brochures, web site and advertisements promoting MBRP with DPPI, as well as changing the box on our exhaust systems. The product is the same it has always been and our customer service will be even better as the time we used to spend dealing with inventory control can now be spent on you our customers.

This was posted a while back and I thought everybody was aware of what we were doing, my apologies if you weren't. We always want to communicate well with our customers, however the speed of the net is sometimes as good as it is bad for those purposes etc.

Mark,

I spoke with Cory at DPPI and he cleared everything up for me to my satisfaction. He pretty much told me what you alluded to in your response. I talked to him on Friday afternoon, but didn't get the chance to post my response until now. I was too busy installing my new exhaust. He also offered to have me speak to you directly when you returned back to the office today. Needless to say, I was very impressed with his professionalism and customer service.

The quality, sound and ease of installation of the exhaust system was also top notch. There is no drone and it is almost as quiet as the stock exhaust when cruising, but sounds great when putting the hammer down. I would recommend this system to anyone looking to upgrade to a 4" SST exhaust and will definitely do business with your company in the future.

I agree 100%

Customer service is excellent! Product is excellent!

Mark,

When are you going to update your website to show the entire line of products you sell?

Would like to talk about that upcoming price drop too.

Mark,

I too am very happy with my T-409 system!!! It installed easily and sounds just right. I can hear it if I listen while on the highway, but no drone. At full throttle it sounds so good. And I can leave early in the morning without bothering the neighbors. Cool.

Has anything changed in the muffler department. I have seen a couple of mensions of no drone at all. I have some with mine, bought a year ago. It is not bad except long trips if you are talking to someone in the back. I was going to go get a turned down tip to see what that does for it.

Mopar,

It may be RPM related. Mine gets a little louder at 2,200-2,400. I noticed you are running 4.10's. With the 315's and 373's I think its at 1,800 RPM at 70 and very quiet.
