double disc or single

I have a 05 6 speed truck is stock. I'm buying a smarty tuner and can't decide what clutch to go with or will the stock last very long.I'm debating between the south bend 3250 double and Terry Shafer told me he can get me a single that will hold 550 and theres a new pressure plate that will hold 25% more.I plan on maybe putting a fass fuel system and 100 hp injectors later down the road but I dont tow anything it's just a toy.

if you can afford it then i would definitely go w/ a good dual disk and be done w/ it. right now i have a FE and am afraid that if i add much more power then my clutch will start to give. if you take it easy then your stocker should actually last you awhile....it's all in how you drive

SBC has a new dual disc that doesn't require teh Hyd. upgrade. I'll get the part number in the morning. It's designed for guys who might make 3-4 pulls a year and drive their trucks on a daily basis

Don't know where you are located, but I would highly suggest you find someone with a DD truck you can drive before you make the plunge. While I am very satisfied with my setup, others don't always feel the same way, and that's a lot of money to dump on a clutch you may not like. If you don't mind the manners of a DD, I say go for it as that will be one less thing you will have to worry about when you realize the bombing bug never goes away.

I have a 3600 DD and love it, have about 14k on it and 7 sled pulls and still feels like new.

I went cheap one time on a single Disc clutch that I was told would hold 500 hp what a joke and it was so grabby It killed a few u-joints. Terrible if you towed.
I have a 3600 SB DD and it works great. The only downside is when you push in the clutch is the Disc rattle, I don't care for that part. But I will never go without a DD again.

I agree with these guys on the dd being the best choice but I ran Terrys single disc and I garuntee you it will hold 500 easy. We pulled and launched and did multiple 2nd gear burnouts and it held great for what it is. Low 3rd pulling was fine just not launching at 4k. Just pretend you are pulling a heavy trailer taking off and then stomp it. I run Terrys dd and they work as good as the rest but share the same symptoms of being noisy and not for speed shifting. I would reccomend the ductil iron 3600 dd. Tim

for the minimal price difference, hands down, go with the dual disc... the 3250 would be perfect, and i wouldnt even chance not putting the hydraulics on... the 3250 is extremely quiet, when comparing dual discs... and going this route will ensure, you have nothing to worry about in the future... p.s. - make sure you hold that clutch in after a pull or burn out for a while to cool the discs, and keep them from gluing together. my buddy found out the hard way about that
