I hate to say it but if he it up the first time I wouldn't have any faith that he'll do better the second time around, but that is a lot of money for the install and it should be perfect or pretty dare close.

I just installed the Draw Straw I and my tank was below empty and after the install I had to go down a fairly step driveway and idle for a bit waiting for a break in traffic and my truck didn't miss a beat. I didn't have the pressure guage hooked up yet but the truck idled fine.

Mine cost $150.
Cancel your credit card payment.
Throw this guy in the back of your truck, bring him down here and I'll show him what the wild west is all about.
I'll give him a tape measure and a rope and tell him if he gets his measurement short again he'll dangle!!!
Then take it to someone who knows what they are doing. Don't let this guy mess up more than he already has.

If we could deal with incompetent work like this, life would be great!

Unless you had the in-tank pump done at the dealer under wnty or otherwise....04.5 you should be able to use the stock pick-up in the tank. They didn’t make the in-tank pump OEM until 2005. If you have your serial number i can look up what kit they sold you.

AND $800.00 CA for install...that is like $1200.00 US!

Im not one to comment on a dealers labor prices...but i can honestly say that if the labor to put the pump on is more than the pump.....i might raise an eyebrow....when i did them at the shop i used to work at I charged about 4 hrs of labor for reference. Granted i didn’t have to drop the tank...but that should only be an hour more.

Just did a test with the new Draw Straw 1 I installed last weekend. Took the fuel level into the red and the truck kept running fine. The pressure guage did waver a bit on hard braking downhill on the offramp but only went down to about 10 psi at the stop sign then recovered to about 14 psi with the nose a bit low. Normally it runs about 16-17 psi with cold fuel. It took 31.157 gallons to top it off so that means I got down to about 4 gallons left. If driven easily I could probably take it down to less than a gallon.

Vulcan II Draw Straw Install

I don't want to bore a hole into the top of my tank. Anyone have any pictures or hints as to how to put it into the top of the canister? I think just pulling out the old small line and using a die grinder or ream to get the hole big enough for the draw straw should be ok... Any comments appreciated. I haven't started yet, but want to get my ducks in a row before I start. It also seems that if I put it into the canister, I should end up with more clearance.

sorry to hear of your misfortune. i wish you the best on getting your issue resolved.

i don't mind paying anyone $ to do a job for me, but do it right.
what would get me is paying someone that amount to do a job and them "" it up.

Somebody ripped you a new one for a $800 install.

Don't take it there!!!! They're sure to screw it up - do it yourself - there are many posted projects with pics on here if you do a search - part of their problem is getting an appointment from them for warranty stuff - they love selling products and installations at exorbitant prices.......then you are on your own. I've had to fix their handy work on two buddies' trucks in my garage. Now, they have other acquaintances calling me for help with installs from the same place. I should open a shop and start charging - there's enough to quit my job.
