I am not on the Smarty bandwagon. Why must so many people jump him for his observations and opinions?

He has a valid question...and a valid observation. Nothing lame or stupid about his post. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, we are here to share those opinions. Why can't yall respect the fact that everyone has their own opinion?

I was aying that it is really impossible to DUPLICATE conditions...or at least where I live, go, and what I do. Traffic...no traffic, weather, wind, load, and fuel is always changing.

Unloaded, I get 14-17 mpg driving the way I do...and unless I logged thousands of miles out of the range...I would not consider a trend.

But...maybe it just me and my 120k in 3 years on a 550hp truck rolling 37's half the time with a 26' 15k GN. LOL.

The key point is...he just needs to update...and I am sure it will be fine. Unless he has the one freak truck that the current DC software is not best on.

On edit...I am sorry about the "lame" comment before. I just want to help. Please take all of my other comments seriously.

Establish a trend...over a reasonable amount of miles.
Identify the cause for change if any...
FIX IT!

So back to one of the questions...is it a 04.5 or 06?

I would put that Smarty or any other good DL or module back on there full time. You might be experiencing the same hp withdrawls that most of us have when demoted back to stock power.

I remember when I first bought my truck...I thought it was the SOOOO powerful. It would hold 85 up I-70 west of Denver. Now it will hold the speed limiter in max tow and I still think it need smore!

It makes me sing Dr. Feel Good (Poison) or Mr Brownstone (GnR) outloud!

I think you have 2 people to blame, yourself, for not leaving the truck alone if it ran so strong and got such great milage. You can also blame DC for upgrading their software all the time, Smarty folks are only doing their job keeping up w/ the latest software from DC. Put #1 or #3 back in the truck and live on already, I know you can pull, tow or whatever on these levels MUCH better than any stock program.

He is talking about the overhead monitor. It is always up and down if you reset it for each tank. Yes each tank of fuels Acerage MPG is different according to the overhead monitor.

Unless I change my electronic settings...I have the same dleta betwen my overhead and my hand calculated. On my 550 hp settings....my hand calculated mileage is 3 mpg less than the overhead.

17 is 14 by hand...20 is 16...etc. It is almost always with .5 mpg on my truck.

I like the new name for the overhead...THE CHEATER METER!

Anyway, to contribute something positive to this post.... HOOKED, that HP withdrawal thing is real. With my current mods I should be knocking on the door of 500hp, but I swear it pulled harder before the AFE, Smarty, and SPS62. From what I can gather it is just that my power is a lot smoother now than it was before because I was lighting the old HX35 up so quickly.

Marco, Bob, and all the other MADS vendors are top notch with customer service. Maybe there is a problem, maybe you did get a bum stock program out of the Smarty, but they can help you figure it out.

One last thing... after getting Smart(y) why would you want to go back to stock?

Your electronics must be well calibrated. Mine has always been about 1.4mpg off since the day I took delivery. Even with SW #1 my actual is 1.4mpg off of what the overhead displays.

true. My truck doesn't feel much faster but when you watch how fast the speedometer moves, you can see its faster. it seems to me that on stock turbos, its more motor makin the truck move which sounds and feels faster....but now with my sps62, the turbo is adding ALOT more to the power which is smoother, not quite so much throw you in the seat....and hearing more turbo whistle than motor just seems slower

I got your post also, just don't care to argue with the other guys who are blinded by their own opinions.

Guys go back and read HOOKED's posts, then read the guys that agree with him. Now take a day off and think about it, you'll be amazed at what he's trying to get accross. HE has his own smarty downloader, he did not borrow one. He's just warning those who might borrow one that when they load back in the stock program it might not be the same as the stock program that was taken out.

HOOKED, I hope downloading a new stock program will bring your truck back to the original factory stock program before the smarty was used.

What I find the most amazing is that somebody expects a product to do something it specifically says it won't do. The Smarty or any downloader for that matter will not return your truck to the same software it started with...unless your original software is the same one the downloader has as the "stock" program.
