I am on the SMARTY bandwagon......best thing to come out for the trucks. I dont see the problem, all it states is that you DONT ever go back to stock....LOL

Seriously though, I thought there was something wrong with my truck when I went from 7 to 5. My truck cannot handle the EGT's right now from the high fueling. So on 5 I am just "content", but I miss 7.....and 9 is just a few weeks away. Every time you get to up the horses then go back it always feels horrible. Hell I cannot remember what my truck felt like stock.

Have you downloaded the most recent version of SMARTY yet?

if not, then why are you still here complaining?

whenever DC comes out with a new software, it is then put into the downloads, so you always get the latest and greatest.

And if you can't stand your stock version now, then what will it hurt to download anew version.

I've loaded and unloaded Smarty from my truck a few times last year. It was exactly the same going back to stock (except for the beauty automatic high idle)

now why don't you do as everyone has said. download the latest DC version to smarty from the site and load it & unload it one more time.

MAybe the stock program on the smarty you used was Old -- no good--- or whatever.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something. If he has this on an 04.5, then the program that WAS in his truck is older than the program the Smarty put back in. But he LOST mileage and power on this latest and greatest program. It may not be the latest available from Smarty, but it should still be, what, 2 years newer than what was replaced.

Hooked, can you borrow it again and load the newest program to see if it helps?

It has been my experiance that the latest and greatest is not always the case.

true, latest and greatest is not always the greatest, but I don't think you can go and get the "old" stock software back now...

I thought for the longest that the smarty takes your stock software out (saves it to SMARTY), puts in the SW version and then when you change back to stock, it re-oads that sotck version that was currently there.

Maybe you got a batch of ULSD and it is just horrible. my truck does that, it will run awesome on some days, then after filling up at a stop, it will run sluggish feeling...

is his calculations for mileage compiled correctly? Full to empty, refill, full to empty then hand calculate? NOT the cheater meter in the over head. Mine shows 26 MPG when I am cruising down the highway with the smarty on 7

There are so many variables...

Was he looking at the overhead? I bet he was...better verify with hand calcs.

Maybe the dealer had another DL installed on the "stock" truck. I have heard/seen dealers do this. It definatley sells the truck...with an additional safe 30 hp (say BDDL Tow). I am not sure if Smarty will take "any" existing software off the truck and consider it normal or stock???? Bob????

It is so easy to witness changes...and go blab on the forum before they are correctly identified and the cause found. Heck...I see 3 mpg sways everytime I fuel up...even in "similar" driving situations.

What's similar...fuel, wind, temp, load, speed, and driving style change daily.

LOL

Edit...I bet if he finds what exact software was on his truck, and buys a Smarty, Marco could find a way to give him that program back.

Nothing is free in this world without risk.

Your kidding right? In similar conditions, you will see similar results. 3MPG?? I will see less than 1-2 tenths difference in similar conditions.

Fact #1
He’s had a Smarty for about 6 months and he’s really pleased with the performance.

Fact#2
The other day he uninstalled it and loaded the stock program from the Smarty so he could tow.

Fact #3
He’s in stock mode from Smarty.

Fact # 4
His fuel mileage went down 4 MPG from what it was before the Smarty.
Side note:
I think he is saying
1. Original stock program truck run’s good
2. Load Smarty and truck run Great
3. Re-load stock program from Smarty and truck runs crappy
4. Re-loaded Smarty and truck run great again.

What he is saying is his Smarty programmer doesn’t have the original stock program. And do not borrow one without the newest verison software.

Fact #5
He needs to download the newest software and compare the two stock software’s.
