done allot of research on mufflers, wondering about drone.

Ok looked up the Donaldson m090544, m085171, and the nelson 86131.

I know this has been done to death but I can not find a for sure answer on the 4 door 6' beds.

I have a 03 ho quad cab, short bed. I am looking at one of these mufflers, I dont want drone, I have found the 51" mufflers are the same in flow and I am sure close in over all db levels. I am wondering if the baffle in the Donaldson is more apt to cause drone pulling 14k lbs. I am sure the 40" muffler is allot louder, but wondering if it has any drone either?? Close to stock sound levels, no drone, better flow. Can I have it all

That brings up my 2nd question, my father has a 05 reg cab 8' bed, wondering with the cat if the 40" would keep it around stock sound levels with no drone? I am sure I can get the 51" in there but looks tight lol. Told him I would ask around since I will be doing mine and of course he has to have his done as well lol

Thanks guys.

I just removed my Donaldson 090544. Its not much louder than stock but it was enough that I put the factory muffler and cat back on. I love the sound of the stock quiet with all the power. All I hear is the wine of the HT Turbo. EGT are up a little but I can live with it. I think if you left the CAT on and put the donaldson on it would have been quieter.

read they have a bit of a raspy sound, I know how hard it is to tune out 6 bangers, my stealth was hard as hell. I went through a few set ups before I got one I could stand.

I've towed a friends 28ft toy hauler with 5 quads loaded and 1 quad in the back of the truck....no drone at all with my 51" Donaldson (no CAT). It was a pretty stout load I must say and I was very surprised that I didnt have any drone. One of the best investments I've made on the truck....

I like mine, not raspy at all.no drone in the cab, quiet at idle but loud at wot outside the truck...the sound bites on the web page dont sound like my truck. I know a lot of people use the donaldson, no one that i know local has one to listen to for a comparison... I see you are in ky how close to lexington...
