Does it REALLY Matter?!?!?

My truck is completely stock except for gauges. I have been searching for exhaust for awhile now but i still have one question. Does it really matter if you run 5 inches on a truck that doesnt have any modifications. they say that 5 inches should really only be used if you are putting out more than 450 hp but i was just wondring how much of a difference ot really made. Right now im stuck between either getting the Silverline T409 4 inch turbo back or the ShopDiesel 5 inche straight pipe. Thank you for all input.

4-inch should be plenty. Just replace your stock muff with a nice straight-through model.

Would there be any drawbacks of goin to a 5 inch straight pipe with just stock horsepower?

you "may" notice a very small low end lose...but if you add any chip, module or programmer it will be gone...least that is how it was on my truck..

Ok..

Thanks *****'s. I think i probably go ahead and get the Silverline as i will not be doing any other modifications other than intake. Engine mods will come later down the road.

Thanks,

When the trucks were 3 inch everyone needed 4 and now that 4 is stock we need 5 why not just go 6 and be first in line . My feelings are 4 is enough even for a truck with mild modes and the gain if any would not be worth the trouble .

I have a 4'' but sometimes I would like a 5.'' But knowing me if I had a 5'' I would say that I sometimes want a 4.''

I did the 4" w/ straight through muffler and it sucked. The drone that is, I thought my teeth were going to crack from it. I changed to and Aeroturbine and it went away AND was actually a bit quieter with faster spooling.

4" will support well over 450hp, you dont NEED 5" until much higher hp numbers. The only reason I went from a 4" straight to 5" straight was to get a deeper, better tone and it was worth the money. For 295 shipped to the door why not go with 5" when it sounds so much better.

I think thats what mine is, I may not have gotten it from shopdiesel but it is the same kit. I am pretty sure they are all (the cheap 5" bolt to gether kits) made by expandit.
