just a quick question for u race guys out there,i got a 555 early 04 6spd and running the pred tuner on extreme rkl no timing and the quad race on pres only,and bhaf intake and strait piped,a woman i am seeing has a 98 i think mustang 4.6l.5pd.now ive been bragging the dodge up pretty good so tell me i can beat the stang haha,how quick are those things,she thinks diesels are for tractors haha,tell me i can prove her wrong

 

I would say if you can row the gears descent you should beat her... Those mustangs aren't that fast, I beat a 07 GT (before smarty), but I'm auto.

 

98 Mustang is 230hp, 04 Cummins 305 factory. Your mods put you to about 425hp (safe guess). A Mustang weighs in around 4300lbs, a Cummins 7k+. IMO ya'll would be very close til she got past 100mph, she can get the best of you if her car is running good. I use to have an 03 GT with 4.10s, SHM bottom end and port and polished heads, Dual throttle bodies, a built auto with 2500rpm stall, and SLP headers running to a custom made x-pipe and full exhaust. That car would scare you for an automatic, too bad I didn't get to put any dope to her...I think it would have pulled 425hp+.

 

I would not be scared. Do a good, hard boosted launch. More than likely you will have her distracted with all the smoke and noise that she will fry the tires off in 1st, then its all over. A 4.6 is a pooch stock...... a 15 sec car at best.

Personally, I would give her a 2 sec head start to make it interesting.

I just re-read the original post and you better sandbag the race. If you like this woman you better not beat her. Woman take that stuff way too personal. You may be better off letting her think you drive a John Deere

 

i have been messing with mustangs for years.. the 98 has really crappy heads on it. Matego is right.. mid to high 15 sec car.. shouldnt be a prob if you leave in 3rd and run her down..

 

If there's sex involved at the end of the race who cares you win either way

It'll be close since you have the row boat. I raced a similar Stang back when I had my quad race stacked with a BDPP and stock auto trans.....it was close, but I won!

My girlfriend has a 02' mustang with the 4.6l and a auto. Her car is nice but my truck stock can take her easily, with your mods you shouldn't have any problem.

 

mustangs are fairly light 3500 lbs. there are no stock 7500 lb
4x4 diesel trucks beating them. you should have a good race really depends how fast you can row the gears.

 

You don't have to win (seriously) you just have to impress her that your truck can hang. So, if you're concerned it could negatively affect things, well, just make it interesting.
