Do I get a stage 1 or stage 2 afe

Do I get a stage 1 or stage 2 afe

I am running full stock and would like to get an afe intake. Which on do I get and where do I order the outerwares filter for this intake? Will i see much difference between the 1 and 2?

If you are running a stock truck I would do the stage 1. The stage to is really more for trucks with alot of mods. AFE also makes filter socks for you filter.

Get the stage 2 so you don't want to or have to upgrade later on.

Yup, get the stage II. I have a stage I I'll be getting rid of soon. Apparently it doesn't flow well enough for a SPS 66 (according to Industrial Injection).

Yes the stage 2 is good for trucks with mods. If you have a stock truck or even a truck with just a chip a stage 1 will work just fine and save you some money.

The thing about the Stage II is that even though the air filter outlet is 6inch, the turbo inlet is still only 4inch.

Its like having a 6inch firehose, but only a 4 inch drain.......you can still only flow 4inches of air

The big thing about the stage II is that it gets rid of the silencer tube (the black baffle thing-a-gig)

The 6 inch filter flows a bunch more than the stage 1 4" unit.
Filter surface is dramatically increased hence the more flow.

The stage 2 intake tube is more of a velocity stack as well versus the old toque tube. The stage 2 flows much better but you also get some sound out of it which I love but some may not.

I'm looking also. Have you looked at the AEM dry flow system? It doesn't use any oil on the filter!

Not arguing that the filter flows more air....with the 6inch outlet it should flow more than the 4inch.

But the 6inch outlet is useless, because the inlet into the turbo is still only 4.

It would like me having a 12inch outlet, but still a 4inch turbo inlet. You can only pack enough air that will fit through the 4inch inlet.

i would get the stage 2 intake. i was able to suck the filter chack button shut with the stock turbo on the tst box all the way up. i would also like to note that you will more then likely be upgrading the truck even further then what you have anticipated. so i would much rather spend the money once then have to find someone to buy your stage one and then buy a stage 2. less hassle in the long run.

Big Red PSD,

Remember you're not flowing water, the turbo is creating a suction, unlike gas vehicles where you are relying on barometric pressure to supply the air volume to the engine. The velocity effect of the 6 to 4 inch tube and the suction of the turbo as well as the larger filter all work to provide a pretty siginificant difference in CFM of air supplied.
