you'll get many different instructions for drilling and tapping for the thermocouple. the safest manner, is to remove the manifold from the engine and do the work on a bench, blow out the chips, and reinstall the manifold.

you can drop the turbo, place a piece of cardboard over the turbine inlet to prevent chips from falling in, drill and tap then.

what i did, was tape over 3/4 of the tail pipe, have all my tools, drills, goggles, gloves, etc ready. start the truck, and start drilling and tapping. the exhaust escaping will blow the chips at you, not into the turbo.

i had 22k miles on the turbo after i did this, and when i upgraded to a bigger turbo, i looked at the turbine for signs of any damage and there was none.

Another good tip is to coat your drill bit with heavy grease in addition to drilling while the motor is running. The metal shavings will stick to the grease coating.

I think that is waaaaaaay more work that is necessary. Hundreds of us have done it by either unbolting the turbo or the method mentioned above. I used the grease on the bit/tap, then magnet, then shop vac method. Works like a charm. This was the second truck I've done, did my new one in less than 15 minutes start to finish. You will need either a short (pneumatic) or right angle drill. It can be tight in there, or you can remove the inner fender well for better access.

X2 on the extra work, I did mine the same as P.J... I removed my inner fender well too. ( did not have a drill small enough to do it any other way) it's really easy

I currently run the EDGE Juice w/Attitude (built-in gauges) but do run a DiPricol Fuel Pressure Gauge in an SRT/10 A-Pillar mount.

I dont have any pictures of mine online as of yet.

As for the pyro probe, I was lucky enough to find a good deal on a new manifold on eBay for about $80 that happened to be pre-drilled. Could have just done what people here are saying, but at the time I wanted experience with it, so I went gung ho and did it.

He's sick.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's
brother's girlfriend heard from this
guy who knows this kid who's going
with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out
at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Thumbs up

Did the gauge install change the location of your grab handle? It looks like it is farther up the A-Pillar than mine is with no gauges yet. I am looking at the same set of gauges you have.

Thanks,
Hay
