I was surprised how much movement there was from the factory though.
You may be right. I'm hoping that once I get it opened up there will be some way to mark where it is at right now. If for some reason advancing it brings negative results I want to be able to put it back exactly where it is right now (which I suspect is probably advanced as far as it can be at the moment).

You won't be able to mark it because when you pull the pulley off the ring will move..

Well, I just completed this mod and so far I have noticed.....

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

The idle still sounds and feels exactly the same. It still idles at exactly 750 rpm. I can't detect any more low end muscle than what was there before. I don't have gauges so I don't know if EGT's are affected.

My wife thinks, and I'm starting to believe her, that this was just one big DTR conspiracy to get ole' Hoss to climb under his truck and spend 30 minutes working on a fruitless project.

If it doesn't rain tomorrow I think I'll take the 30 minutes to do this and see how it works on my 610...

It's really simple to do. Hopefully it will work out better for you than it did for me. I took about 1/16 of an inch off of the slot...maybe even a little more. After noticing no change whatsoever, I'm 2nd guessing myself now...wondering if maybe I turned it the wrong way. I think I might go loosen the bolts and double check it.

hoss, you are now at the same point i was earlier when i put it back to stock test drove it, the turned it clockwise agin and drove it again. the biggest change i noticed was throttle response, dont have to apply as much preesure to the pedel to get moving faster.

Like the dummy that Dodgezilla is, I had it turned the wrong way.

Now that THAT little problem is fixed, the idle does seem smoother...maybe...or it could be my mind playing tricks on me. I can't really say that throttle response has changed....at least not enough to really be able to notice it. Maybe it has some, but not much. Time will tell about the fuel mileage.

Basically, unless in a week I've discovered better fuel mileage, this modification did nothing for my truck.

Gotta go watch Alias now.

I did the tone mod to my 05 yesterday. When I first started it up I could not tell a difference, but as soon as a I drove it I could tell. As for an increase in MPG, I have not noticed any improvement yet. Still hoping for an improvement though.

Now who's the RETARD??? I'm not surprised coming from the guy who has the concrete bedliner!!!

Mine's not that much stronger than before but I can definitely feel that it takes a bit less pedal to get the truck moving, especially with the quad box turned off. My mileage seem to be up a bit but I've got a couple more days to go before posting the results...

I haven't noticed a change in the idle when I installed the Rokktech sensor. Did noticed the gain in power from off idle to about 1,800 rpms. Makes skip shifting much more pleasant.

I can't tell you how stupid I felt when I loosened the bolts up for the second time, reached up and turned the ring clockwise a good 1/4". One would THINK that I'd learn from your mistake!!

One thing I did notice is that my ring was already advanced as far as it could go from the factory. I think between that and my Edge EZ it just makes it hard to notice any difference (if indeed there is one). Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised with my gas mileage the next time I top it off, but I'm not expecting much. When I filled up yesterday I hand calculated 19.6 mpg for my everyday driving. I can't imagine it's going to get much better than that.

My engine was louder than usual this morning, but I attribute that to the cool weather we're having right now (51 degrees). My grid heaters even kicked in this morning.

Hmmm, has anyone tried the Tone Ring Mod with the Rokktech Crank Sensor installed? Wonder what the results might be!?
